I sure hope it doesn't have the wing on the back, as it appears on the front page. The one at the top of the thread looks better to me.
Cool idea--an R8 competititor would be nice...

Actually you completely mis interpreted my comments.
What I was meaning was that for those looking for a successor to the E31 - it is the F13 6er which is the modern equivalent to the E31. And for those looking for a large flagship V12 coupe like the E31 to rival the CL there will not be a BMW equivalent , the RR Wraith now takes that status as ultra-luxury models are showing sales growth, a BMW 8er successor will be a four door like the CS Concept due to demand for more flexible and individual options. On the back of the pre-launch for the Wraith , almost the first cars expected for December are all but sold. And that is without some even seeing the car. The BMW Sports car project is scheduled for 2016 when advances in material technology will be entirely cost effective over the brand competitors. The BMW i8 and BMW i8 Spyder are currently the priority. The sports car along with the X7 and CS inspired replacement are intended to sustain the flagship 7er in the luxury segment when luxury vehicle sales reach a projected 1 million units by 2016.

I did notice you used the word "sports car" and not "super car" but that's better than nothing I suppose. On a side note, Rolls Royce Wraith, if priced similar to Ghost, is going to be about $250k. That's a world different from a would be 8 series, a true competitor to CL, and probably would be priced somewhere about 100k. If the market for large coupe is not great currently, then I understand not making 8 series but saying 6 series is successor to 8 series? why didn't they just keep the 8 series name then? and make a smaller 6 series for people looking for $60k coupe version of 5 series? I think you might've meant that the 6 series fills the market for people looking for modern day 8 series and not literally a successor but either way, I understand the market isn't great for large coupes. I do hope BMW names the future CS, 8 series gran coupe! And name the future super car, M10 Thank you for the clarification, much appreciated! |

BMW definitely needs an X7 to compete with RR climbing up market and the new Bentley SUV.

I am hoping that it is light weight, mid engine, with emphasis on handling. I am also hoping that it has high revving modified version of M division V10. That V10 high revving engine was the ultimate street production engine ever created by M division. Its sound and fury is great.

Mid-rear engine is not the best choice. Mid-front engine is better and more in line with BMW's philosophy. The best cars on the market are mid-front engined: Lexus LFA, Nissan GT-R, Corvette C7, Ferrari F12, Aston Martin One-77, Mercedes SLS,...

Someone tell BMW to stop making engines smaller. I bought my e92 m3 in 2011 instead of a porsche bc it had a v8. It makes me smile when asked what's under that hood and I can say a v8, yeah a v8 in this two door coupe))

I think it will be even lighter than the i8:
Minus -Batteries -Electric Engine -Eco - stuff (Brake Energy regain etc.) That is, if they decide to make it a true performance orientated Supercar not some GT/Supercar blend.....Hope |
