M Posers

I was driving around Birmingham MI today and I did not think people in this area did such silly things.

BMW M7

BMW MX6

Is the M badge really that desirable?

Saw a guy once up in the South of Calgary, he put an ///M badge on his X5, it was a 4.8i in reality but then when we pushed it I kind of left him in the dust

I don't understand the appeal. I can understand the humor when a Honda has a n M badge, but a majority of the population do not know what the M badge represents. However, car enthusiasts most likely know the M line up so when they see these badges they will point and say 'poser.' I figured if you can afford a nice car like a BMW x6 or 7-series, you would have some common sense. I guess I was wrong.

Many people just don't know any better.
But to be honest... I really don't care. They can put a Ferrari badge on a Focus if they want to... it's their money.

Lol. I guess the M badge is cool until a real M pulls up.

i'll have to dig up pictures of the ///m525i that i ran into or the ///m 535 (with fake quad exhaust) i saw in nyc. it happens to all the 'desierable' cars. when i was still in my s4 i'd allways see s-line rear badges (ebay only part) or obvious a4's with an s4 badge (other than the performance difference there were styling queues that set them apart).

personally I'm a fan of anything with a huge wing or has bumper cutouts...

Also don't forget that BMW is diluting th brand by offering 'M' packages on the 1 and 3 series cars which won't help the matter.

If he would have looked at pics of a real X6M, he would have known to put the badge on the other side...

Reminds me of "Up in Smoke" where Chong puts the Rolls Royce grille on his beetle, lol.

There's a Mercury Cougar around here with Ferrari badges, parts stickers and a flaming number 13 with a skull on the hood. Fierce.

Exactly, non-M's with the M packages have the badge all-over the rest of the car. Is is that unreasonable that an owner would extend that to the rear badge? Not saying I advocate the practice, but could see a justification.
