I'm very pleased to see BMW and the other large manufacturers getting into the electric car market. While Tesla may have a jump on the competition their interiors are just plain boring. They really don't know how to build cars yet, they're learning as they go.

I think it depends on the buyer. Tesla buyers seem to accept the shoddy workmanship, poor interiors, etc. b/c they like the giant screen, the updates, the cool and fun tech stuff that Tesla provides and many seem to not want to go back to regular cars (at least those I've spoken with who own Teslas).

Me OTOH, I despised them as soon as I drove the first Model S and whenever I've ridden in them since b/c the crappy leather, poor quality build, etc. appeared to be worse than that found in Acura and Honda products and was not acceptable to me for a $70K car let alone a $100K+ car.

With that said, Tesla does have 2 major advantages - their much larger supercharger network and generally higher driving range vs. EVs for traditional car mfgs.

I didn't like it in the gray at reveal. But I think it looks nice in this color. I would get this over a Tesla. Tesla's are good, but build quality is not great and communication with service is atrocious/non-existent. I would also expect a BMW to have a better driving experience.

It would be nice if it had a little more ground clearance, similar to the X5. It's not a terrible looking car, but I don't know if I would spend my money on it. IMO, there isn't a good looking EV SUV out yet. Rivian is the only manufacturer that looks like it will have what I'm looking for.

I think this grill actually fits the car. Somehow seems better proportioned compared to the 4 series. I like it.

Do all EVs have to have such ugly wheels? I get "function over form" and they're very efficient but jeez, make them look like regular hubcaps at least lol.

I have no pictures (because my friends didn't know what they were looking at) but on Thanksgiving a black iX drove passed them on I-77 South, north of Charlotte, NC.

They said it was "a BMW they had never seen before. A suspiciously quiet (electric) SUV with big air intakes, weird lights, and the driver had it in some autonomous mode because it tried to change lanes."

Just sent them this and they said "yeah that was it!"
