Just a 500 (same as the one I think dcstep has). I figure as long as this stuff costs less than my car then it hasn't yet crossed the line from hobby into disease...

The scary part is how many other lenses I went through before settling on these (total value still less than the Z4, but getting uncomfortably close).

Oh yeah, glass will do it. Met a freelance guy up in Madison who told me his equipment cost him more than his house.

Ok, so not close to my house, but I bet my Z4 cost less.

I'd love to see a pic taken with the 500mm beast.

Just curious, but how many others keep the boxes their gear came in? I'm glad to see I'm not the only one.

I do, in case of resale or any need to ship it back. You can't beat their shipping systems.

EVERY box and/or packaging, even for other things. Drives my wife crazy (sweet!)

When I sold my D300, I think it helped with the price I was able to get.

Funny that I have these great lenses, and I have to take a picture of them with my iPhone.

I am a Minolta/Sony guy, but I don't have many lens in my collection.

Sony Alpha A700 + Vertical Grip + HVL-F58AM flash

Sony Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* DT 16-80mm f3.5-4.5 (All Around Lens)

Sony 70-300mm F4.5-5.6 G SSM (Long Distance Photography)

Minolta 50mm F1.7 (Low Light Shooting)

Sigma 24-50mm F4-F5.6 (Back Up Lens)

I need a fast 70-200 f2.8 for low light super telephoto shots.

Tamron 10-24mm
Nikkor 18-200mm VRII
Tamron 70-300mm

I use a simple Nikon D40x (but now I needed to use my SE X10 mini pro phone)

consider the f/4 IS? cheaper, sharper (most say) and lighter. if you ever go FF you'll use it a lot more than you think.

I shoot comedy shows a lot and I hear the 2.8 is better indoors and performs better in low light. I'm beginning to do my research now so if this is incorrect, don't bit my head off

well you get 2-3 extra stops so that wouldn't hurt indoors but obviously you're paying the premium for those stops.

Ahh that's almost the same setup that I'm gonna be buying! 16-35mm, 50mm, 105mm macro and 70-200mm :P

Currently using the 18-200mm VRII and borrowing my friend's 50mm 1.8

Mu current lineup, pretty content with it. If I had to do anything I'd like to replace my 50 1.4 with a 35L.
