Oh boy!!!! Poor 125i of yours! I would not like to see all the gunk that will be in your motor already. 15k is already asking too much, get it changed immediately.

My M135i says 18,000 Miles/2 Years whichever comes first, I wouldn't worry about it.

I did my first oil change at 3000k, the oil looks metallic at the bottom.
Not sure if I did the right thing but I was told to do that when I rebuilt a rotary years ago.. Maybe BMW have their reason to keep the oil for that long.

Been fiddling with cars for 20 years, bike engines as well (4 stroke), we always change the new oil out after a few thou miles.

I know the newer cars can go longer but I'm with you, change it up. The metallic colour is swarf, uber fine metal mixing with oil as the engine beds in.

I asked a local BMW specialist and the nearest BMW main dealer @ 1500 miles, both said it was a waste of money and just to follow the servicing schedule.

Did my 125i today - Castrol Edge 0W-40, BMW oil filter kit and 15 minutes. Best thing is it takes exactly 5L so no stuffing round with multiple bottles of oil.

I only replaced the oil filter cap o-ring, but not the little one at the base of the filter cap as it appeared to be in good condition and was on very tight to begin with. If the interval is 30k kms it will be fine.

Oil that came out was dark but still golden, no metallic items or sludge observed when I poured it through some gauze. This was after ~11k kms.

I did mine at 10000km and plan to do every 8000km from now on.
I used 5w30 castrol. Why did you use 0w-40???
