I had left my vehicle in the garage at work downtown, which was good as we had trees on top of vehicles everywhere in my neighborhood. It looked like a bomb went off. Roofs collapsed and one house was missing all of their siding and the pink insultation was sticking out. You could see straight into their living room. That's only about 1000 feet from me. I was lucky to have very minimal structural damage from what I can see.

On the flip side, that left me stranded with no way to get to my vehicle and it was 85 degrees inside my home at one point. I thought I was going to have a heat stroke.

Rescued via SUV.

Hopefully I'll have power restored this weekend. I just want to go home. I want to sleep in my own bed.

I leave my ac at 79 during the day… some people just can’t handle the heat.

I’ve done it. Not fun at all. For months actually. Lived in open air format in Hawaii with bugs galore crawling around. Don’t miss that piece!

I truly don’t blame you. I don’t know if I would subject myself to that potential disaster either… it’s brutal. Hope y’all recover as quick as possible.

+1 to the above. Sod doing any of that!

A single slate cracked and fell off our roof for no apparent reason the other night, and that's enough for me to deal with!

I'm not trying to make this a competition, I'm just stating how miserable the first week after the storm was for me. I'm so ready to get power restored soon.
Agreed, we lost power for 7 days after Sandy. It was absolutely miserable. So glad you’re overall OK along with the rest of the members.
It will get better soon…just keep your head up

So long as it doesn't fall on your car, that would kill me.

It fell on a manhole cover, which made a loud bang/clang and woke up my 3yo son in the middle of the night. It's hectic being woken up by a crying child when it's dark. Trying to fumble to their room in the dark, in a sleepy haze and slight panic

Glad to hear that at least you didn't lose your house and you weren't hurt.

I've been through a few hurricanes and without power afterwards. It is the fucking worst.

No earthquakes, no hurricanes, tornadoes are extremely rare, no massive hail... Sideways rain is about the worst of it.

Desperate times call for desperate measures

Jk, I spoke with two very nice guys from Canada.
I wonder how many times you said that as you tried to figure out how to blow dry your hair the past couple weeks.

"Desperate times calls for desperate measures…"

- Sticks finger in light socket to dry hair.

I don’t know why everyone thinks I blow dry my hair everyday?? Where did that come from? The only times I have used a hair dryer this year were only for the first dates I went on. Other than that, I let my hair air dry every single time I wash it.

I think my hair looks just fine with out a blow dryer. You guys probably can’t even tell the difference
Cuz YOU always tell US it's a frickin' THREE HOUR process?!

What are you, doing 10,000 brushes a day?! The hell else could take 3 hours?! Lol.

Noooo. It’s a 3 hour process to get my hair done! Meaning to go to the salon and bleach it blonde.

Sit in the chair, let her exam my hair, she goes to the back and mixes the bleach, takes about an hour to put all the foils in, then another hour to process, then she rinses it, applies the toner on it, once the toner is on that has to sit for twenty minutes on my hair, then she washes it all out, she trims or cuts it, and finally she dries and styles it. It’s about a 3 hour process. Now you see why I want less maintenance….

I’m glad you’re ok! You should come out to California. You would fit right in. I’ve had a very shitty 13 days. Surgery, not fun!
