Parking Sensors...

I have purchased a BMW F20 116 sport (delivery due end of the week).

Very very excited. I currently have a 1st generation 1 series but it has parking sensors.

I won't lie. On occasions I have relied on them. Who hasn't?

Slightly concerned as my new one doesn't (went for Nav and other bits - cant have it all!!). Do you reckon I can have parking sensors fitted, so it beebs through the speakers and looks like nothing has been installed?

Kinda hope so, but awfully excited none-the-less!!

I find the parking sensors even more useful in the f20, as rear view seems quite restricted.

The great thing about front/rear sensors on the new one is the visual display on the screen. If you can get an official retrofit which includes the visual display i'd recommend it.

hi harrys! Since I'm also interested, how much did you pay for? Was the installation quick? Any re-programing to i-drive?

Thanks

About 1000 euro i cant say exactly because got it at the same time i got the car.
Yes it needed programming.
But its worth every euro. Its fantastic it shows in idrive and you can not tell the difference from factory made.
For anything else please ask file.

Will I need to ask for it when the car arrives and how long does it take for the parts to arrive / installation? Has anyone in the UK had this?

I asked my salesman today and he was honest and wasn't sure whether it was available as an 'out of factory fit' on the f20. Good to know it is!

Thanks for the feedback - much appreciated!

It took about two weeks to arrive. You can put it at any time. About installation i did not do it myself i left it to the dealer. But no problem with the car. Its a plug and play think.

I find the rear PDC is very useful as the rear visibility of the F20 is limited. Get one u you haven't. And the visual distance assist also helpful.

I agree. Rear PDC is a plus given the limited rear visibility (which is a down side of hatches and this 1).

I regret not getting the front option together as well though.

Why do you regret ? Do you think front visibility is not enough?
I am confused and I can not decide whether I choose rear cam or front park sensor.. (rear pdc is standart in my country ).. I cannot afford the both

Could you help me pls ?

Thanks for the info Harrys. Which dealer did you go for installation? Do you know if they had to remove many body parts including items such as rear seats, etc..?

Not sure what the advantage of having a camera over rear pdc? Main thing is establish If there's an object in the way and how near. You don't need to know what it actually is. Front pdc is useful on a beetle where the front not visible from the driver's seat, the 1 series bonnet is rather more visible. Rear pdc ought to be standard everywhere as rear view rather limited.

Is there any blind spot for PDC rear or camera. If there is a blind spot that cannt be noticed by PDC or Camera , then going for both make sense .

Camera is also a cool option I ve always wanted to have in my car.
