1. With only the Aux cable, you can navigate only through the iphone. With the Y Cable you can navigate only through iDrive, which is much easier when you drive.

2. Yes you can, it is very easy. Also, besides the contacts, you can see the recent calls dialled and received.

Thank you

1.I take it the Y cable is the charging cable you get with the iPhone ??

2.Does it charge the iPhone at the same time when it's connected to the Y cable because will damage the battery !!

Y cable is the one that has the iphone/ipod connector on one end and the other end is split to a USB end and an Auxiliary (pin) end. It does charge the phone at the same time. You can get the Y cable from BMW (in Greece it costs 80 Euro) or from Amazon (like I did) for around 20-25 Euro.

Hiya, no I don't have the professional nav option.

I did order the advanced the Bluetooth/USB connectivity extra at £180ish i think without looking but only got the additional Bluetooth functions for the phone connection, was told that the extra for the USB just allowed transfer if album art and connectivity if you ordered the additional Internet option.

Ok it must be that option that allows you to use the apple USB cable as I just have the standard bluetooth/USB option in my car and def does not like the apple cable .. Cheers for clearing that one up for me...
