This is literally surreal. Thankfully, I have never encountered a deer on the road but our friend did - and the car was totaled. No one was hurt.

Definitely not the typical video actively promoted on Discovery channel ... yet more informative.

Hit a deer... https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1467003

Happened to me a few years back. Happened fast, hit it with the front drivers corner. Did over $14k in damage. Deer ran off, not sure if it died later. Funny thing, at least 3 different police came by once it hit the wire. They were all hoping to have to put it down...

Tagged one with my Ram 1500 when I first got it. Less than 12 hours after I left the dealership in Texas. Sent the deer flying about 50 yards.

Had a bumper + fender pushed into my left front tire to where I couldn't drive, busted the radiator + oil cooler, front headlight, front bumper, and bent the hood a bit. I was fine though and aside from slamming on the brakes, barely felt the impact.

Very lucky in a narrow backwoods roads in SW Poland, 4 up in the CLK I slowed out of a hunch and a young deer came spearing out of the undergrowth close by ahead at side window height.

I've had 3 deer incidents and the ex had one. With my 1er I hit a deer just standing in the middle of the road. The way the curve and hill was set up with the back drop, the deer just blended in. Slammed my brakes but too late. Banged up the front end of the car. Total insurance bill was about $6500. Body shop was able to repair the hood. The costliest parts were the two adaptive headlights coming in at about $1300 each.

Second deer incident was with my C-HR driving out to my beach house. Deer just decided to stroll out through a large 4 lane highway (Rt404). This was at night. Swerved to avoid it. Heard a thunk but didn't feel anything with the car. Stopped off at a gas station to inspect the car. Didn't see anything out of the ordinary but something didn't seem right with my bicycle that was on a hitch mounted platform bike rack. Got to my beach house and took a look at my bicycle more closely. Yep. F'n deer hit the front wheel of my bicycle and bent the piss out of it. Went to a bike shop where the guy tried to true up the wheel. Got a lot of the bend out but still messed up. So ended up replacing the wheel.

Third incident was back when I had my old Ford Focus ZX3. Driving home late at night. Deer was just standing in the middle of the road. It was night time and the road is not illuminated. Hit my brakes but slammed it. Even though the damage didn't seem bad and the car was 100% drivable. Insurance decided to total the car. This same car had another animal incident a few years earlier. Driving on a highway at 75, I see something dark moving across the highway perpendicular to me. Next thing I know, bang. Car seemed to drive ok. When I got a chance to pull over, I see some damage but couldn't tell how bad as it was night time. Next morning, I saw the damage more clearly. Banged up lower bumper, bent radiator core support. Bent A/C condenser coil. And I think the radiator also had to be replaced.

As a manager of an autobody, we used to see this up north (NJ) all the time. Not so much in Florida.

A woman in a Volvo hit a deer on a fast moving side road (Prob 50mph) and caught it mid air. The hooves went through the windshield and the deer squirmed trying to get out. The hoof punctured her lung and she died in the car with her young child in a car seat in the back seat.
I remember this big burly tow truck driver telling us about the scene and he was sobbing like a school girl getting her pony tails pulled at the playground.

Talk about unlucky. Your "Ram Tough" truck saved you though.

Geez, the mods around here tend to take their creativity seriously. The title to this thread was completely changed and I didn't recognize it was mine at first. Sheesh.

Goes from "Yikes! (BMW encounter with deer)" to "Oh deer". From the new title you have no idea what this is about. Oh and this is now categorized as "General BMW News and Cars Discussion"??
