I would go as far as to say that this is all but fact. We have already seen the N20B20 work its magic in conjunction with the 8 speed ZF in the X1, which also formerly had the N52B30 @ 258hp. Better acceleration and lower emissions than the outgoing model.

Perhaps there might be an N55 powered car later but not without a much more aggressive configuration.
Sure, we could end up with a situation here that mimics the E30 325i vs. the E30 M3. The former was a 6 cyl (M50, IIRC) with about 165hp, while the latter was a 4 cyl S14 with 200hp+.

My gut still tells me there is more in store for the role of the 4 cyl turbo, however. I think we will see an N20, or its successor (N21?) with 280hp. An N55 may thus not be necessary for the 1 series and X1. To me, the model changeover to the F2x is the prime time to get everyone used to the fact that the smallest RWD BMW will forgo the 6 cylinder entirely from this point forward. We shall see.

Quad system bumper, possible.
Admiration on the face of the guy looking at the car, that's a fact :-)

I have to say the new 1 series turns out to look better and better. Especially the Interior seems to be a huge leap forward.
Shame I will never buy one since they won´t offer a NA 6 cylinder. My friends 130i is just too creamy and smooth to pass on such an engine.

I agree.. I think this is a bad direction they are taking. I don't see myself buying another 3 series (and I have loved the 3 series for many years owning an E36, E46 and 2 E90's) because they are getting too big. My next BMW will most likely be the F20.

Why are you sure it´s a 135i? Just because it has one exhaust on each side of the rear or is there any insider info?

no need to defend it, interior looks great.

but I am quite bored with the M sport front bumper - hasn't changed much in quite a few years

It makes me mental that BMW won't bring this to the US

Hey in a few years I will be looking at kids and need something cheaper and more useful.. 135i hatch would be damned hard to say no to.

I think this would kill in the US, quit mucking about with the GTs and give us the hatch!
