Just asking how the MHD remap went on your 116i?

Was it a stage 1 or 2?

I am doing the same to my 2014 116i next week and also retrofitting cruise control.

It was a Stage 1 MHD Tune. Very happy with it so far and have no issues with the tune (hopefully stays that way for the future). Make sure you get new Spark Plugs & Coils. Also, do MHD Logging and ask MHD Support to check it for you to be safe. Also, don't do hard pulls on Cold Engine.

Many thanks.

I've changed the plugs but not the coil packs, also new maf and O2 sensor, and fuel filter. Oil and air filters changed recently.

I always warm the motor before using a lot of throttle, but it is a shame there is no coolant or oil temp gauges (so I use the Torque app for coolant temp and boost pressure)

I am undecided whether to use the MHD app to force a relearn of the maf and O2 sensors before the tuning.

You can use the Hidden Menu to see your Oil/Coolant Temp -

It stays on till you exit it or turn your engine off.

"I am undecided whether to use the MHD app to force a relearn of the maf and O2 sensors before the tuning." - you can check with MHD but I would say it would not be needed, maybe just Throttle Reset might be needed.

Thanks, I'd forgotten the trip meter option.

I use the Torque app but couldn't see oil temp, will check again.

The MHD wifi obd adaptor and their app worked fautlessly to install a stage 1 tune in 2min 36secs!

Superb improvement and boost is now 5-7psi higher (15-17).

Oil temp doesn't seem to be transmitted via OBD unless there is a non standard PID. (Choosing oil temp in the Torque app doesn't display the temp.)

That's great to hear. :} The car feels completely different, to be honest.

Oil Temp is probably only accessed via the "trip meter option". There are other ways but the money isn't really worthed but if you wanted to look into it - https://www.mlperformance.co.uk/prod...37835856904351 or https://www.mlperformance.co.uk/prod...31377200021594

It would be great to see your Stage 1 MHD doing some pulls on 3rd Gear with DTC Off (2000-6000 RPM) and the logs of course uploaded in https://datazap.me/. Of course on warm car.

Yes the car is much improved but there are no straight and level roads anywhere nearby for some timings. I like the smooth progressive throttle response - all too often a remap will turn the throttle into an on / off switch.

12years ago I had a DS3 1.6THP 155bhp motor which was remapped to ~ 200bhp and the 116i feels similar.

I am fitting an oil catch tank this week.

(The DS3's motor blew and was replaced under warranty. The dealer told me that it was caused by a known fault - excessive crankcase oil fumes entering the combustion chamber and causing detonation. One piston was in pieces and other holed.)

Did you choose any of the options?

Sorry for the late response. That's great if you're happy with the power and enjoying it.

I have "FTP N13 Oil Catch Tank" as well - https://www.ftpmotorsport.com.tw/pro...catch-tank-kit. Also upgraded Intake Pipe which is Metal as my Plastic one cracked and thought I'd upgrade to something that would stay.

Other than that I'm pretty much Stock but I have a lot of parts changed due to either maintenance or upgrades but they aren't power-related but more like upgraded Grooved Discs, etc.

I'm thinking in future for MST Intake Kit, Bigger Intercooler or gfb dv+ or turbosmart (but need to do more research on this as have heard bad things for some cars using them).

Oil catch tank.

I bought this large one:

https://www.onbuy.com/gb/2l-alloy-al...863~p56412485/

There is lots of space in the engine bay of the 1.6 engine models.

I also fitted the cruise control buttons and coded it yesterday. Great to have CC again.

A bigger IC is probably a good move now that the boost is reaching 17.5psi

Yep, that Oil Catch Tank seems good, plenty of space as you said.

The bigger Intercooler is defiantly something to consider and MST Intake Kit.

That’s great regarding the Cruise Control. Been meaning to do this (need to buy Cruise Control Buttons) and how did your code yours or you got someone to do it for you?

Thanks

The buttons were available from an ebay seller for £117.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/194406008639 (he's only got one left, if its the right one for you)

The trickiest part was removing the air bag module.

I used E-sys (with Bimmer Utility) & Psdzdata Lite to code it and followed the pdf guide here:
