330i owners:DO NOT DRIVE A 335i!!!
Unless you can afford to take the hit and trade it in. It will blow your mind away!!! The power delivery is amazing. I thought there'd be at least hints of turbo lag but NO. The torque seems to be endless. Very, very nice car.
I don't think I could live with 2 doors though, so I might consider trading my car in once the E90 335i comes out and they give better deals on them (If I ever get my car back from the dealer, 3 weeks and counting... ) |

Is it worth it to upgrade to 335i for 45hp ? I will stick with 330i.

I don't plan on test driving one for this very reason. I can't imagine losing all that money trading in a car after one year of ownership. I plan to keep my car for at least 4 years. After that time, it will come down to 335i vs M3.
In reality, I barely need the power of my current 330i but more power is always nice

Where in the world are you going to use all that extra power? Certainly not on Interstates 95, 20, 10, or 5. According to most automotive mags, the 325, 328, and the 330 have all the power you are going to need without getting a ticket.

I looked at the M5 (not to buy!) and thought, 500 HP!!?? WTF do I need with 500 HP? Why? Where? When? A track day, sure, that'd be fun, but other than that...... 500 hp? And I love cars, and power- we all do. At some point, though, it does get crazy. I'm probably rationalizing a bit- bummed that I only have the 255, but you know, for that car, it's more than enough. |

Needing the power is not the same as wanting it. I mean, who needs a BMW at all? A Nissan Versa would get us all to work and we would all save gas money. Hell, a bike would be even better. It's all about want. BMW's are never about "need". If I owned a 330i there is no way I'd trade it on a 335i now - while I think the 335i is *way* more powerful, the 330i still handles as well and has enough power by a long shot. I'd keep the car for the full term then think about a 335i or M3 etc...
That said, if you're joining the BMW family now (like me), a 335i is the obvious choice. |

There are always new cars coming out that are stronger or more beautiful than yours. Right now you trade your current car for the 335i, once the new M3 comes out you want to trade the 335i in again......and again.....there is no ending. Since 335i and 330i are in the same generation, I really don't think it is worth to trade in, unless....you are crazy about the coupe or money is not a matter to you.

The new one does not diminish what you have.
The 330 is a wonderful car and Im sure for most folks it was an improvement on what they had before. "price is only an issue in the absence of value"! By that, if you were happy with the deal you got, and the car you got, anything else does not reduce what you own. There is always a better deal, and an improvement in the automotive world. |

Can I take the "325i" defense? "The 330i is plenty quick enough for me?", "The 330i has more power than what BMW lists", "Not worth the extra money" or "fast but not $$-worth faster"??
Sorry, I couldn't resist, I've seen those type of arguments for so long here... But really, I prefer NA and 4 doors, so the urge is not killing me like it could be. Danny

the 330i you have now is depriciated and for the 335, you're gonna have to fork up more money. Trading in for the same car with 45 more horsepower, you should've just gotten an m3 or a 5 series in the first place.
The hit you're gonna take could've gotten you one status higher in the bmw badge department. |

That's why when my brother offered to buy my 330i, I immediately jumped into it. But the agony of waiting for the e90 M3 started 5 days ago.

I did and while my car is not nearly as quick, I still love it. I am pissed that the beta testers were given the big BMW screw. This is not the first time either. I will not trade.

Shoot the 255 is more than enough for me. I won't trade it and take a bath. Although, I'll probably trade it after 3-yrs because it'll have about 50K miles by then.
