I was waiting for that last night. We did get some noise, but it wasn't close and didn't last long. I was happily surprised.

Yeah, same here. A few pops and bangs and it was over.

Yes, and spent many a new year hanging with him at his NYE parties in Times Square back before his passing. I only went once though, because I was working two jobs in those days.....

Yeah, I watched Sydney, Aus.'s fireworks display. It was far bigger and better than my little city could afford not to mention multiple camera angles. I still didn't get to bed until after 11 though.

The Nürnberg fireworks were awesome. I watched them on their live cam, which normally shows mostly sky and rooftops for whatever reason. But last night it was perfect for watching the fireworks. Must have been several million Euros worth of fireworks launched in just a 30 minute span.

Yeah, same here.

Unfortunately here in Ohio, passed a new law allowing consumer fireworks during certain holidays. Includes the 4th of July and the weekends immediately before and afterwards, New Years Eve, New Years Day. Memorial Day, Cinco de Mayo, Chinese New Year, Juneteenth, Labor Day, and Diwali (wtf is Diwali?)

Funny as hell watching the news when they interview the folks buying fireworks. Looks like most couldn't put groceries on the table or pick out decent clothes to wear but have hundreds if not thousands wrapped up in the purchase of fireworks.

And don't get me started on the ones that don't seem to respect the time of night when they feel the need to shoot them off.

When I was a kid, I used to watch the "Wizard of Oz" and wonder how someone could talk if they didn't have a brain. Then, I discovered Facebook.

I've been working in the attic putting down a walkway. As you can see, trying to do anything in the attic without a walkway is nearly impossible. The insulation covers everything and makes trying to traverse from one part of the attic to another a seriously risky task. This shot is taken from the attic hatch entrance in the garage. Just beyond the top of the image, the long axis of house runs perpendicular to the walkway. That area is a lot more open and laying down a walkway there *should* be easier. But right now I'm having to squeeze my big ass between these 16"-on-center beams to get down to the joists to lay down some cross supports and the planks. Between my hamstrings cramping, my worsening ability to get to a standing position from my knees, and this narrow area to squeeze through, I was spent after an hour this morning and an hour this afternoon. In theory, this shouldn't be a difficult task. In practice, it's a royal pain. Maybe 30 years ago, this might have been easier.

I used to replace the multiple failed attic fan motors in our second house (of three) many years ago and I can recall the sweat running down my face and crack of my ass. Now I just hire someone and watch while sipping on my favorite beverage.

Yes, much easier.

Save your tired old body for more important things, like napping.

I was never up early enough for this. The only time I’ve gotten up really early was when I was subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice. My opinion of morning is if God had intended for us to be up in the morning He’d have made it come later in the day! It was fairly common for me to be up for the national anthem.

Years ago I put my mother in a 1991 Rosewood Mercury Sable LS. A very rare color and I had a very hard time finding just these two photos.

I was trying to remember how old I was and my first thought was I was still a teenager, about 19. Then I had to face the reality of the math and realized I was almost 30!!
