time to switch.

http://www.canonrumors.com/2011/10/e...press-release/

well, actually, i'll wait until the Nov 3rd Canon Hollywood announcement to decide. but being that the new video camera will persuade me to start investing in EF lenses, it'd be smart to swap the D3.

dual CF, extending video recording time and ISO 204,000. yes please. haha.

I want to get one too! Though I don't have 7k lying around haha. Would you guys still keep the 1D IV for the 1.3 crop now that Canon is consolidating the pro lines and making them FF?

Dang, that was just like me. I used to be a big hoarder because I just wouldn't/couldn't let my gear go...
Over the past few months, I have lessened my pack-rat tendencies and sold a sizable chunk of my gear...but it made my heart hurt lol =[
I want a second body again though.

I may have to talk to the bank about a loan. Car loan rates are very low. I wonder if I can pass this off as a German car model?

I can't get over how fast this thing can shoot. In that video you can hear the shutter firing like a machine gun as he pans. Amazing.

just sounds like the old 12fps film cameras from the silent movie days. or their projectors.

My inner geek really wants this, but the camera I already have is more than I'll probably ever need.

Honestly, I'm delighted with the 1D-X but for the wrong reasons. I never wanted one of the 1-series cameras - too big a brick for me. I have a 7D for the AF and pixel density and a 5D2 for the frame coverage and total resolution. With the 1D-X Canon is basically saying that neither high pixel density nor high total resolution are critical in their top of the line pro camera. What I believe this means is that all the good stuff I care about will show up in the next generation of their smaller 5 and 7 series cameras (maybe even including f/8 AF - which was the one thing I craved from the 1 series, and one thing which Canon dropped in the 1D-X).

I have to admit, though, that trying some night sky photography at a not too noisy ISO 50-100,000 would be pretty neat.

I'm dissappointed that it won't AF at f/8 like the 1D MkIV and the old 1Ds MkIII. The 5D MkII may actually have better detail. I want low noise, but detail is just as important for the nature shooting that I like to do.

So, I may give up the fps and stick with a 5D2/7D combination and then move up to the 5D3 when it comes out and hope that it picks up some fps and better AF.

Dave
