I'd say most people don't realize it's logarithmic.

Will be interested in an EV when the industry can build a mkV Supra size coupe that is sub 3500lbs, minimum 350hp, and rwd. Until then all these EV's are just another Tesla Plaid that goes brrr.

I think it looks great, and will sell out quickly. The demographic that can afford one will fall over themselves to buy one. Tesla S people.

I for one would be super embarrased driving around in an electric car that had fake engine noise pumped outside.

Could not do it.

This is all going to be normal in 10 years. Fake engine noise pumped inside and outside of EVs. Sounds sacrilegious to many of us, but many things today would be seen as sacrilegious to car enthusiasts from 30 to 40 years ago.

Speaking of prices…..a 2018 Challenger SRT Demon just hammered for $155,000 at Mecum today! Not surprised though.

I think the design looks good. Not much I don't like about it. I do HATE the fake engine noise tho.

It doesn't sound great, but I can appreciate that they at least tried something..

They need to figure out a way to make a manual transmission too while they're at it

seriously tho, It will be a pretty boring world if and when all the new cars sound the same when they are all electric...This won't be the last car maker to do this, hopefully they can figure our a better way to make is sound more realistic ....I'm sure they will

Agreed on all points.

One of the neighbors has an orange Demon, it just drove by a little while ago making all sorts of lovely noises. Sad to imagine a future without it.

99% of cars make shit noises though. The loudest cars are regularly the ones you least want to hear. For me, sound is most important inside the car, not outside.

Just to be contrarian, those features get the side-eye from me:

- Just use your right foot properly.
- My manual transmission does not have those.
- I thought this was pretty universally disliked.
- Unnecessary gimmick/added complexity.

Well, I'm off to go burn down some more cotton mills...

I agree, fake noise outside is stupid. Beyond, what's useful for pedestrian safety anyway. Engines make noise as a consequence of operation, so it makes sense.

Loud electric cars would be not much different than putting an outward facing speaker on a Civic playing Ferrari 458 exhaust sound. I really don't want to hear someone's electric car playing 100+ dB SPL synthesized noise.

I'm not fan of aftermarket ricers either. But a great exhaust from the factory on a proper car is lovely. I'm a bit the opposite actually. I like a smidge of noise inside but not overwhelming, but outside it should definitely be audible [within reason] to onlookers.

Agree. And it is not like electric cars are silent, they make the same sounds as ICE by just moving through the air and the same tire noise as the treads roll over the tarmac. Most normal street car's exhaust sound (i.e. a non-fartcan Civic) are drowned out by ambient city noise anyway. In less populated areas, tire noise and air rush noise are prominent.

Adding in fake engine sounds is stupid. Gone are the days of the E85/86 where BMW purposefully piped real intake sound into the cabin.

One of the interesting aspects of this design that isn't readily apparent (because everyone is focusing on the 'styling') is the attempt at aero management with the front end:

Whether or not there is any actual science applied in this design is open to speculation, but I like the fact they tried something with air flow management that presumably could be applied to the production car and would have an impact on its performance - and contributes to the car's styling in doing so.

yeah, I like the fact that they are willing to sacrifice some range for better styling...most car enthusiasts would agree with that motto
