You could put a 114i badge on an M135i as well.

yeah, a reg check would show its a m135i, and it has 2 exhaust, and do you not agree that building 300bhp is much better than buying 300bhp ?

That depends on whether you are better than BMWs engineering department or not! :-) I used to modify my cars until I found out how much better the stock product was in most ways. I also used to like the sleeper idea, but I have found out that pretty much noone cares about how fast cars accelerate when the light turns green, and what type of car it is. You lose anyway if you line up next to a 7 seater Tesla family car.

The modification process can however be rather educational, so I don't regret it at all.

i agree with this quite a lot really, and i respect this as you speak with experience rather than opinion,

with my build at the moment i am trying to use as much OEM M135i parts as possible:

Spark plugs, intercooler, ignition coil etc... this way i get a 2 year warranty on the parts and you know it should do the job!

and sure a tesla is fast, but you wont hear a electric engine rev

Quick update guys!
Mine have now been remapped to stage 2! Damn what a different car! Performance is great compared to stock and the sound is really nice with the downpipe installed!

I would like to have even deeper sound with more pops and bangs... removing the mid pipe (resonator) and replacing with straight pipe should not be that hard since it has no "bends" but will it do any good to the sound? If that is not enough I will plan to remove the back box which is stock m135i but it is not that easy since the pipes needs to be custom... please feel free to suggest what you think is the way to go

The N55 uses NGK as OEM to get that clarified.

The N13 engine has a vast choice when looking the gap on the SPs. I suggest you use the N20/55 ones and leave the gap as it is.

The 135 backbox to be honest is bigger though am having doubts regarding the efficiency on the performance aspect on the N13 instead of using a branded tested solution. am only saying this due to the fact i havent seen a pre and post dyno.

300bhp on what torque anything beyond 350nm of torque on a AT will be devastating on either engine or any components of the drivetrain.

You have misunderstood the stages when swapping the turbo you are on stage 3 of tuning. Stage 1 is usually all stock. stage 2 is the cooler and exhaust and so on..
When aiming for 300bhp you cant go cheap. So the wangner Evo I competition cooler is needed an appropriated branded solution from the turbo and back for the exhaust and most likely an better intake system including the variants of CP and BP.....

@ pakiminator
Why is it choking about on 4000rpm and then kicks up again?

Pops and bangs are a mapping solution though you should read or ask how those are achieved on the engine side.

More noise besides the most obvious changing the exhaust the cooler and CP&BP also contribute.

further suggestions can not be placed because we dont know what you aiming for and each of us have a different view on the end result

if you search you may find the last track i had it was a custom solution to hybrid some part from the N20 turbo.

never the less those numbers you aim for require quite few changes if you up for it..

Could you confirm me whether the N55 sparkplugs fit in the N13 engine and have bosch oem nr. 12 12 0 037 582 ?

Would it be recommended to change te coil packs to N55 packs as well? If yes, would you go for the NGK or oem DELPHI one's?

the N54 uses Bosch as standard whilst as upgrade as 2 step colder and or with use of Ethanol the last i had it checked. if i have mistaken with the N55 it is may due a lot of info nevertheless the specs are for all engines the same

N20/n55
Thread diameter: 12,0 mm
Thread Length: 26,5 mm
Spark gap: 0,75 mm
Resistance: interference-free, 5 KOhm
N13
Thread diameter: 12,0 mm
Thread Length: 26,5 mm
Spark gap: 0,8 mm
Resistance: interference-free, 5 KOhm

the first 2 are the most interested. The gap can be adjusted if wished though not suggested as is mostly for are use. a friend fitted them in a N13 couple o weeks ago

Best setup:

Engine:
Stage 2+ tune (well known brand)
Wagner intercooler ( 13lt )
Any intake kit
AEM meth kit %50/%50 water meth or %40/%60 water meth depends on your tune and gas
Spark plugs ( NGK or N55 fine)
Coils (N55 should be fine)
Downpipe (Min 76mm)
Resonator delete
Well known brand rear muffler
GFB or forge Dump valve
Motul V300 engine oil
Oil cooler

Easy 260+ hp 380nm+ (depands on your tune)

If these are not enough and if you want more power:

Ugrade your turbo with hybrid or get something bigger.
Forged engine. (pistons and etc.)

Keep in mind ZF in 1 series (except 135i) can only handle 450nm at most so spend your money according this info.

Thank you for this handy list of modifications!

I'm probably gonna go with the following mods:
- muffler delete
- GFB Diverter valve
- OEM N55 spark plugs
- Stage 1 (220hp 310nm)
- FTP Motorsport charge and boost pipe
- FTP Motorsport intake pipe with stock airbox or injen cold air intake

As I won't be pushing the vehicule too often and climate in Belgium is more likely to be cold, I will keep the stock intercooler or maybe get an OEM N55 intercooler.

Are N55 coils recommended when going stage 1, or is it optional?

Thanks for the info!

I looked for the oem number of N55 sparkplugs and came up with bosch oem nr. 12 12 0 037 582. So these are the ones I should use in my 118i N13 for stage 1 tuning?

And do you think it makes a difference? And the last question, how much is it?
DV+ i have on My car and is perfect, is keeping the boost better than before. what i will advise you is to mount the intercooler from 135i, is plug&play fitment. after this go to the tunner and modify the soft based on the new numbers that the car will have. The Boost on my 116i 200 hp is at 1,39 Bar.
