tinted windows - looks like crap
Hi,
I forgot to add tinted windows from the factory so decided to get it done by professionals. Cost me about £280/€335. Result was very unsatisfying to say the least. The entire back window and the small rear side windows have a white/light frame around it, just like as if the tint didn't stick. Which I doubt it has properly. From the outside it looks like the tint wasn't fitted to the window properly. But from the inside it looks fine since the tint is covering the entire window. So this makes me think the tint didn't stick to the window as it should have. The white edge is very distracting and eye catching due to it being between two black areas. Especially on a white car. Its like a frame within a frame withing a frame. The edge looks like this on all the windows tinted: Got a 10 year warranty on the job so I´m going to call them tomorrow to see if they can sort it out. If not I´ll ask them to remove it and give me the money back. At the moment I am 100% certain this result is due to the person lacking experience with tinting. Just sharing in case anyone else has similar experiences. |

No point having a brand new car with half ass tinted job. Kills the look completely. |

It's the shadow effect the windows have that's causing the problem, creepycoupe on here had his M135i aftermarket tinted and the results were the same.
It's basically the result you will get with these cars.

Same here I'm afraid. Basically the film can't stick to the glass due to the black dot-matrix pattern printed on the inside of the glass.
The effect does improve with time as the tint slowly dries out and adheres to the window better. Not a fault of the installer - it's a fualt of the car manufacturer!

Tinting is always a dilemma for me, in some cases I want to go clear but I feel a White F20 would look best with Black Tint..... from the upper right hand corner of the pic it appears that you have the Alpine White (I do too)...you can go the Crystalline clear automotive window films.
