Bored of Angry Bird headlights...
The cheapest, but also one of the most effective cosmetic mods I've ever made on any car.
I've always hated the overly large headlights on the F20/21, so thought of a way to go: From this... ...to this in five minutes, thanks to the skillful vinyl wrap guys at Valet Magic in Camberley, but I daresay it could be done by most people with some skill and patience. It's just gloss black vinyl, which goes well with my M Performance black grilles. Was originally thinking of something closer to Ferric Grey to match the mirrors and winglets, but the contrast wouldn't have been as good. The only downside is it covers up the LED DRL strip, but with the bright halos, that's not too much of a loss. Someone should make a proper plastic (or carbon?) eyelid with a slit cut out for the DRL. The guys at Valet Magic could have cut a slit, but that would have meant cutting the vinyl on the lens, which is only plastic so would have scored. What do you guys think? |

The car looks more feminine now, with the mascara highlighting the eyes. I think the next step would be eyelashes.

Dunno, I'm quite happy with the Xenon headlamps as they are. If I had the halogen ones (thankfully I don't) then I'd be more concious of how big they were (because they look horribly large). Looks a nice neat job mind. Would it have balanced out better to have done the bottom edges too? I don't know. Will be leaving mine as they are
Beautiful thing is who cares so long as you like it... do whatever* *this excludes eye-lashes and bonnet bras... brrrr... |

The eyeliner has simply emphasised the angry bird look, not an improvement imo.

First time post! my wife has an m135i and she loves the look of the front. I have to say I don't mind her car either It's a unique look. The eyebrow doesn't make much difference to the overall appearance. Its the bottom of the light that is big so if anyone wanted to make a change or cover it would need to cover that as well, possibly colour coded too

In my opinion, the slightly dorky looking thing about the front on the F20/F21, is the big sheet metal area beween the lights and the kidneys. The M Sport front makes it less annoying by adding some extra profiles there, but on the Sport/Urban lines it is rather disturbing. If I wanted to improve the design, I would have tried to add some features that extended the lights towards the kidneys.

But for the moment, I like it. It didn't cost anything and it's just a couple of strips of vinyl. I can take them off in 30 seconds if I get tired of them later, but for the moment they're staying. I agree that ideally they'd be colour-coded with the bodywork, but that's not going to happen with vinyl. I still think a piece of moulded plastic with a slit for the DRL that could be sprayed body colour would be a big improvement for the standard M135i. |

AGREED
I've always thought whoever designed our car was playing with his/her cellphone until the second before the due date.
I personally feel the design resembles more the piggie.... Thanks I've finally let it off my chest, har har. It's good you're trying something. If you like your exterior mod., then it's a good mod.... |

It's the X1 (before the recent face-lift) that press and media really went to town on with regards the whole Angry Birds pig look... because that really was a hideous thing to look at.
I love mine with M Sport trim and Xenon package because it looks great but I see other 1 Series in other trims or with the standard headlights and... hmm... I'm driving one of those? Me (blue) parked up next to another 1 Series sometime last year: Complicated relationship. |

When I look at the E87 next to the F20 in that picture, I still think the older model is so much better looking from the front!
I must admit, the F20 looks is growing on me.... slowly but surely
