I place a huge emphasis on my rest/recovery. Sleep being the biggest component. Due to my work schedule, shift work 12hrs (3p-3a) and having a 2 yo...some nights it’s 5.5-6 hours that’s all. On off days I try and stock pile sleep...8,9,10 hours. I’ll basically try and go to sleep when my little guy does. My wife is up earlymost days.

One thing that made a BIG impact on our sleep is the mattress we have. I generally replace my mattress every 8 years depending. I have a new memory foam cool max mattress which keeps my body temperature In check. I used to wake up hot and sweaty. We live in Florida so this was an issue. I know feel I am getting much better REM sleep and deep sleep, crucial for recovery.

I’m thinking about purchasing a Oura Ring. It’s a ring you wear at night while you sleep and tracks your sleep patterns. I’ve heard a lot of good things. If you track your food, track your programming you should track your sleep. The three go hand in hand.
That memory foam cool max mattress sounds sweet. My fiance and I have different tastes in mattress, I like firm and she likes super soft.... so obviously our mattress is soft as fuck not to mention hot as hell. I always wake up drenched in sweat, not ideal.

Same, I'm high energy and when I don't have something to do I'ts a problem lol.

I open the door...and he says...Hey Man...where is the Marriott? I had to bite my tongue, but told him walk two blocks up and look to the left and he will see it as it's the latest thing they have built and lit up like a Christmas tree.

After that...I just couldn't get back into the mood. So I went straight into my workout. Guess there's always tomorrow.
I would have been livid. I run my 5ks on the treadmill too, people have tried getting my attention but I may them no mind lol. I'm a nice guy but an asshole at times as well, is what it is haha.

Same here. We have a soft mattress...but I bought a "twin" mattress topper that is firm for my side of the bed. It helps out and keeps her happy. But she also says I'm like a heater. I always sleep in a pair of gym shorts, no shirt, with a fan blowing on me.

I guess since we are "empty nesters" I could sleep "au naturale"

But after years of having sole custody of my daughter, Being dressed constantly is a hard habit to break!

I destroyed my legs so badly last week that I now fully understand the value of that bar near the toilet in the handicap stalls.

Next week do the same thing except use the normal toilet stall and report back

Funny thing today while hitting legs...us guys don't look sexy doing it but when a chick does legs...its almost like watching porn it's gotta be the yoga pants right?

I woke up this morning and my knee is KILLING me. Back feels a bit hot, and slightly swollen. I'm embarrassed that just walking onto the beach and then basking in the sunshine would do this. I didn't even go down to the water, and we never did get around to throwing the Frisbee with the wind.

Oh I know....they do it on purpose.

There was one in on Sunday that got on the stair stepper opposite of me that looked like Kristen Dunst. I'm partial to redheads...married one.

This one had long natural red curly hair, and wearing the tightest pants that accentuated everything. When I read the cameltoe comments earlier...she immediately came to mind!

This is the exact reason I do my cardio the way that I do. I cover the computer with a towel so I'm not tempted to look and see how long I've been on the machine. Seems to make it go by faster if I have no idea how long I've been at it. Bluetooth earbuds in at full volume and I keep my eyes closed the entire time. this keeps people from making eye contact and wanting to start a conversation. In my opinion, if you can suck wind and carry a conversation at the same time; you are either in better shape than I am or you're not doing it right.

I have an old friend that I see at the gym on occasion and I had to tell him once not to talk to my while I'm doing cardio. He wants to stand next to me and ask a million questions while I'm going as hard as I can. I typically do an hour or more each session. I kid you not, the bastard kicked the wheel on the elliptical once to get my attention because I couldn't hear him and had my eyes closed....just to ask me about how my sister is doing. that's when I yelled at him and told him if I'm soaked in sweat and look like I'm about to pass out, not to f*ck with me. He now just nods and smiles when he sees me.

I was this way all last week. Did drop sets on legs focusing mostly on calves and way over did it. I felt like the guy from the Liberty Mutual Fitness Junkie commercial. Every time I took a step I felt like I was pushing the floor down 2 inches. Yesterday was the first day I've been able to use a treadmill or elliptical since last Tuesday. I could barely walk all of last week. Mission accomplished though, I can definitely see in change in size and definition in hamstrings and calves.

I got to stop being so nice! I usually don't even look at the time. I typically set a distance I want to go....then every day I try to complete it in a faster time than the day before....except for leg day. These workouts are cardio events by themselves!

During the off-season, I do just enough cardio to keep my resting heart rate in a good place. So it's usually just HIIT intervals for maybe 20 minutes or so.

Honestly I usually don't ever have to change it up to start lowering BF...I just adjust my diet a little. But this year I got such a late start on my diet with my daughter getting married, I have had to step it up a notch as I don't like cutting too many calories. Then I got sick which put me behind another week.

But we got fitted for our tux's 2 months before the actual wedding...so I had to hold that weight longer than usual so that it would still fit me!

But progress is going pretty good. Had all my abs start showing up nice and crisp without flexing at about 197lbs. Looking through my records...last year I was about 192lbs before that happened. Veins are out everywhere...but I am a naturally vascular person. I have veins showing in my quads even during the off season.

So it looks like I added about 5lbs of "quality" tissue over the year. At my age...I will take it!!!!
