125i m sport exhaust tip corrosion
Gave the car a good clean this afternoon.
Was horrified to find that the exhaust tips have corrosion pitting already. I wash the car fairly regularly and always include the exhuast which I polish and seal with meguiars Nxt. My cars only 4 months old. Not good enough IMO for a premium brand like BMW

Same here after 8 months and 7,000 miles... It appears to be hitting the entire range too
I was under the impression before I collected my BMW that it was indeed a premium brand. Thing is, now I own one and have seen first hand what the quality of components is like on the new 1er I'm just a little dissapointed! Now either BMW is no longer a premium brand altogether, or they've started cost cutting heavily on their cheapest car |

mine has the same problem with 10400km and 8 months old. Mine gets really black every week and i clean it every week.
Apparently some of the guys with m135i also had the problem and complained to the dealer and got a replacement tips. I hope we can also get this privilege of replacement too http://www.babybmw.net/viewtopic.php...exhaust+carbon |

Mine has done 5000 miles. It can only be down to the poor quality of the chrome. My mk6 Gti never had this issue in 3 years of ownership. The Gti tips also got very dirty each week. But at least they stayed as good as new. A trip to the dealers and a letter to customer services is required. Not happy about this.

Ask them about the FEM recall while you're there, save you two trips

I've fired an email off to the dealership I purchased my car from to see if this will be a warranty item.
I take pride in regularly cleaning my car to keep it spotless. I would not expect a car less than 6 months which has only covered 5,000 miles to suffer from this problem. We shall see (I'm not holding my breath).

Surely they'll have to replace this under warranty and I think its pretty obvious to see how well you look after your car.
I've also heard of stories of the silver hubs rusting behind the alloys! This is my first BMW and little things like this for me can make or break owning another |
