I re-watched the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP this morning while getting some time in on the stationary bike, and a particular event on Turn 9 stood out to me... looked really familiar.

Max runs Hamilton WAY wide, Max is barely on track himself let alone leaving room for Hamilton. Hamilton doesn't turn in, just runs through the corner to keep the place. Max complains that he needs the position back, no further investigation.

Checo runs Norris wide, but there's still room for at least 2 cars, one on track, one partially on the curb. Norris turns in on Checo and hits him, then turns and runs through the corner to keep the place. 5 second penalty.

One of these drivers got a penalty, and it's not the one who deserved it, imo.

I'm not trying to point fingers here at Max or anything like that, but when the rules aren't equally applied, it makes you scratch your head. The result of that call is Ferrari lost 2nd place in the championship, and Checo lost out on another podium.

Lew is a little crybaby, I'm not trying to suggest otherwise, or even suggest Max is in the wrong here. More that the stewards have it out for Checo. Even when he's doing his best to keep the racing clean, he gets penalized while other drivers get away with far worse.

Landos turn into Checo was similar to Russels turn into Max in Vegas, and who got the penalty there? Not Max.

He's had questionable moves this season, but imo, this wasn't one of them. He left room on track, but Lando didn't take it. I think this is a case of the stewards taking into consideration other events from this past year counting that against him, giving a penalty where another driver wouldn't have gotten one. Sad display of character from the stewards, imo.

I don't like Max's style, and I know I'm not alone. Leclerc is a lot cleaner in his approach. Lando lands somewhere in the middle. Checo does okay some times, other times he sends it where he shouldn't.

BTW Dutch taxes are also pretty severe. Especially on property, energy, cars, tobacco/alcohol and money savings.

I don't think Max considers himself either Belgian òr Dutch. Half his family is dutch, the other half belgian. And that's probably the same with his friends.
I think it's more important how Max sees himself than how we see him.

Maybe the choice of flag he races for also has to do with personal sponsors. Jumbo at least is a dutch groceries chain.
But that sponsorship stops next year afaik (jumbo change of ownership). I wonder which company will take it's place.

The 2024 RB20 has a head start , that's a huge advantage...'

The RB20 will be a copy&paste from the RB19 , but aerodynamically much better with less of drag and more downforce and that makes the car even faster at the straights and in the turns.
The RB20 brakes are also a priority item , with stronger brakes and better cooling you can win a lot of lap time .
That's the magic from Adrian Newey . Newey is already working from July on the RB20 .
The last upgrade that the RB19 got , was after the summerbreak with some small new bits on the floor and that was it for the remaining races of this season .
And MAX won the last race (Abu-Dhabi) with what ?
With a 20 sec. gap , he was just cruising in the last 6-7 laps to bring it home .
That's a sea of time in F1 terms !

The reliability of the RB's slim gearbox seems to be fine, Dominaceli himself has warned the others they have only themselves to blame for falling behind with poor preparation and design of their cars and a repeat of this year is to come starting from March. Max and Adrian need to be extra careful with their activities now, I think you know what I mean.
