As a former Lincoln LS owner; not so much. In spite of what many people think it uses a 3.9 liter Jaguar derived V8 instead of the Mustang 4.6 4v so mods are nonexistent. It was a very nice handling car but even my 2nd gen was only good for 280hp and was attached to a pretty dreadful 5at.

I remember when street racing was cool.

It was 20 years ago. We would drive an hour outside of the city to an industrial area. There was no one else on the streets but a bunch of kids in lowered economy cars. We'd watch them do 15sec+ 1/4 miles, smoke Marlboros because that's what grown men do, and looked under hoods and pretended that colored spark plug wires made cars faster until 5-0 showed up and we'd all scramble towards our 120hp rockets to get away. Cheap fiberglass bumpers would get destroyed as we sped off on uneven pavement, fart cans farting, city lights twinkling in the night. My oversized rear view mirror gave me the situational awareness needed to escape, vTec and a 7 second 0-60 gave me the speed, hours of Gran Turismo 1 gave me the skill. My Momo shift knob ensured every shift was precise and quick, the holes in our rear bumpers made us light and agile, I turned the AC off to divert all power to the front wheels where I needed it. We thought it was pretty cool... at the time.

Does turning off the AC help a little bit with the power? I used to do that with my 180hp "sports car". Though that was a lot of horsepower back then

If you want a real go at making muscle cars look slow, invite them to your local auto-x and keep it OFF THE STREETS!
Atlanta just had an entire family killed crossing the street because of douchebags racing. Not fucking cool at all. It fires me up. There are legal outlets for that shit.

Sure does. ACs on all cars will use about 15HP. Give or take a little in either direction. My WRX seemed to lose closer to 20HP. I had to turn if off if I didn't want to drop to a lower gear to pass.

That other story about 90s racing was great, we used to take our shitboxes out of town and into frame country and race on the empty rural roads. Quite frankly I'm amazed no one died given how bad the roads were and how crap our cars were |
