F20 rear light cluster removal

Hi everyone

I am the proud owner of my first BMW . it is a 12 month old 125d M Sport in white. Very happy

I just want to change the indicator bulbs at the back, but i cannot for the life of me get the rear clusters out. I followed the instructions in the handbook and it states that the top fixing is rubber and when i pull using the handle inside the cluster it will pop out. It will not!!!!! Upon further inspection it doesn't look like those fixing are rubber at all, and i can just about get my finger in there and they feel metal? Any idea how i get these off? I've tried to take some pics to show what i mean

Your help is greatly appreciated

Maybe someone who has converted from regular cluster to LED cluster may have come across this too?

I changed my rears to blacklines.

You need to take the entire cluster out. They're actually fitted 'outside' the body of the car.

After removing the bolt, the only thing left is to pull.
You should try prying in between the bodywork and the rear light cluster.

Needs a serious pull though!

Hey thanks! I tried pulling but I was afraid to snap that top bit. I really gave it the beans but it wouldnt come out. I'll try again later. Did you notice any rubber on that top fixing by the way? Seems metal to me

Used a trim removal tool to prise off the plastic piece from the the rubber fixing, success.
