Question ECU Remap on a high millage car

Hello everyone, I’ve read a lot threads and I will like to ask all your opinions on a remap.

So I have a 116i with the n13 engine 136hp, it’s the same engine as the 118i (170hp) as you all already know. The car has 180.000km which to my opinion are a lot. I am kinda getting bored of the driving experience and I was thinking of tuning it.

If you where in my place would you remap it to stage 1 220hp ?
Will a remap to 170hp which is close to the factory’s default on the 118i and will that be somewhat more reliable ? Also what about online tunes, what are your opinions on that?

I know that it’s a high mileage car and there is no guaranty whatsoever, what I am asking is will the remap stress the engine that hard that I am going to experience total failure right away ? I don’t constantly run the car full throttle but I like to have the extra power for the occasional feel.

Any insight is welcome, thank you all !

(The engine will eventually fail, I know that)

I think the key is how much power you use, not how much power the engine can produce. The 116i will eventually overheat and self destruct if you use 200+ horsepower over time. If you only use the extra power a few seconds now and then, it will not be an issue.

I would have gone for the more powerful tune, and sensible use of it.
You could also consider extra cooling measures, like an intercooler or oil cooler.
