Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I'm wondering how you feel now about the auto after a couple of months?

I've just ordered an M135i (with 8 speed) and like you, I'm moving over from a JCW Mini.

I'm nervous that I'm not going to feel as connected to the auto as I am with my 6 speed in the Mini.

Cheers

Garage List
This car...

It's just a shame that the base price over here is more than double the base price of the 120d I'm in the process of ordering.

I send a jealous congratulations to all of you who've bought this awesome machine!

The auto is amazing. Yes you lose some interaction with the car, but it suits the auto so well I am not missing the manual at all anymore.

3000 miles on the clock now and I really do love this car, yes it is not the prettiest car in the world, but boy it is really very good.

Glad to hear the autobox feels ok.

Congrats mate. What a car. I ordered the same colour and autobox too.

My former F10 535i had the 8 sportautobox too, but it's the Titanic compared to a 1 series. I wanted to have more feeling with the car so I chose a F30 335i 6MT but had some warranty problems with it..so I chose the EB 3 door M135i (with the autobox because of the great reviews all over the net). Just put it in manual and play with it I guess.

Cheers
Robin

I'm still torn wether to choose the manual or the auto.

I really like to drive manual when I want to do some 'spirited driving' , and do some 'heel&toe' action, and be 'in control' of the car.
I fear that I will loose this feeling with the auto.

Please help !?

It comes down to what kind of driving you will do with the car. If you drive a lot in stop and go traffic, the automatic gearbox will be more comfortable. Otherwise I prefer manual control.

Well 2 years have gone by and I have covered over 28000 miles since I took those photos in September 2012.
I still think it is a brilliant car and I have enjoyed every minute spent driving it. Other than a noisy climate control fan, which was fixed it has never missed a beat and has been very reliable.
Don't know if it is just my particular car but it seems heavy on front tyre wear, but that is the only issue of note. Fuel consumption over the time I have owned the car is around 29 mpg (UK) so not too bad a all.

With much sadness then I have decided to move on, but not moving very far as I have ordered a M235i to replace it. The new car should be here in September.

Buy back was used? How much (in %) did they offered you?

Getting around 60% of the amount I paid for the car and a nice little discount off the new one. So all in all not a bad deal.
