thanks for that! Hadn't seen that detail level in terms of number of photos. It does look a heck of a lot better than F20, unfortunately for BMW fans.

it is such b.s. that our first ///M performance model is going to be the X1 M35i in the states... i don't really even see the market for that. It will be heavier than the f20/21, higher off the ground, carry the same amt of cargo, be more expensive, and be built on an outdated Exx platform...

so pissed right now....I don't like audi's and have always been a BMW guy, but I do like how they're bringing their portfolio to the states. I like how they're investing well in the next gen A3 and I like how they've packaged their S models. Not to mention their trim lines and options are so much easier to deal with than BMW's. C'mon BMW throw us a bone here!!

Well Karim did the F30 as well. He is now BMW head of exterior design. Let's hope he will be able to bring back some love to a lot of stuff.

I know there are calls of ugliness compared to the A class. Yes it's true base of 2013 A class it has better looks. Franky I would have waited to try it but I am happy with my F20.

BMW new designs are something that will grow on people (like it or not). I still don't like the ergonomics of the Merc. Ie the display and user interface. I think BMW have done better in that sense.

I had the honor of recently interviewing him as well. He is a great guy and has a passion for cars- we joked about his trip to MB. He confirmed a 4GC to me and a few other things.... that and he has an old Alpha as a collectors piece and source of inspiration I'd link but then I'd get a slap on the wrists here.

If that is the front of the new 2 coupe, I will be looking at a BRZ STI.

The first generation 1 series hatch looks better i think...
i am still having trouble accepting this new 1....

Yes i agree, the old 1er hatch was beautiful. i think i am going to have to wait for some renders or something to pass judgement though.

The exterior designer of the F30 isn't Karim Habib. It's Christopher Weil, who also designed the 5 series GT.

At first I was schocked by the F20, but last week I saw a black one on the street - it looked much better than on the photos and I really liked it.

nice vid! sounded a bit dull though, could use a bit more roar from the exhaust. Probably another thing irl.
body-roll seems massive at times indeed, but that's the case on alot of spy-shots from the ring, even the m5. Looks like the rear-wheel is about to make its way through the floor into the trunk at times.

The best thing about the F20 is that the car is "distinctive" which of course can translate to some of you as another term for ugly.
But in Europe at least , there is only one mold for this segment and that is the Golf. Every C-Segment competitor is all about matching the Golf and then again I can bring up lack of originality again.

The 1er is not only distinctive it is also original. A true BMW, RWD concept and soon with xDrive and a sportier 3dr option.
BMW M. are excited about the M135i purely on the basis as this is an entirely new concept , there has never been a BMW to establish a high end Euro performance hatch like the Audi S3 and Golf R and now here comes the M135i and M have not only tuned the engine. They have worked on the steering , tuned the dampers and extensively worked on the chassis to make sure this car is not forgettable.

Well put on the design and market segment aspect Scott26.

Again, the strongest negative comments come from those who have never seen the car. Those of us who have seen the car in a dealership and on the road almost universally say "Looks a lot better than the pictures" or "It's really growing on me."

I've never seen a community of car enthusiasts more conservative than the ones on this board. I'm not saying that in a bad way. Just time and time again, when a new model is revealed, everyone freaks out only to find that in a few years that model is on their driveway and they like it.

Still looks ugly. Those hideous lights! Damn, I've been forcing myself to like the headlights with no luck at all.

Looks very droopy. Like this:

"Unfortunately however, the F20 and F21 M135i won't be available in the US" - don't worry about it. I've seen many, many in the flesh and it ain't pretty.

Yes, it's like a type of sloth thing with snout that grazes on grasses in shallow waters. If such a thing exists. As to another comment about seeing it in the flesh making it more appealing - I don't buy it. It looks worse. Note how many photos of the front will be more in line with the bonnet, raised higher than the grilles and bumper line. Come down low in line with those, and 'snoopy' gives you a lazy nod.
