Right at the NC/SC border near the mountains. Landrum SC / Tryon NC area. Horse country!

About 20 minutes north of Spartanburg, and 40 minutes north of the BMW plant in Greer SC.

You aren't too far from me, about 3.5 hours. I'm in middle/eastern TN.

Cool! My in-laws are in the upper part west of Boone NC.

Road trips for us can be a lot of fun....almost every road has some killer curves, and I couldn't believe the speed limits they have posted in the upper part of the state. I told my wife I bet the tire shops stayed busy up there as they had some ridiculous speeds posted for some of those roads.

Whenever we went, I would always try and drive the Vette....but since I got the 128i as a daily....I found out I like driving it up there just as much!

I want to do the Tail of the Dragon. If I knew it existed, I would have happily gone 200 miles off route when I did performance center delivery a few years back.

The tail is about 2 hours from me. I want to take the E93 through there and get some decent pics by killboy.com of it with the top down before I get rid of it. My biggest deterrent is that when it's warm enough to do this, the motorcycle guys are out in full force which causes all sorts of issues with me.

I don't mind the motorcycle guys...it's the cyclist I hate.

I don't mind the true bikers, the guys on the crotch rockets that tend to run in packs and terrorize people piss me off. I got caught in a few swarms of them over the past few years and it's not fun. And before I get flamed, I'm not saying all crotch rocket riders are bad, but the packs are really bad.

True. I gave up bikes when my first born came along. But I was never one of "those guys". But they are out there.

The cyclists are what get me the most sometimes. Down here they think they own the roads and won't move for anything.

Once a year I see them on my way to the gym in Spartanburg at the starting point for the "Assault on Mt. Mitchell" and I think I should just get in front of them for the whole ride up in my car blocking the lane!

I don't mind them too much. If I'm in the M6 I just give a few 8200 RPM blips of the throttle and they respect that.

I can't stand the sight of them. We were going through a traffic circle and one of the little bastards held his hand up to stop the traffic, (which had the right of way) so that he and his little cadre go through without slowing down. The moron almost caused a concertina effect accident in the traffic circle. I wanted to chase him down and give him a piece of my mind but my daughter has a more level head about this than me. I'm a role model!

I totally agree with you. True bikers tend to be respectful. I see and hear about far too many accidents on the tail from guys on bikes crossing the double yellow to shorten out a curve then end up smashing up someone's car. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about some aggressive driving but endangering someone's life or possessions by being irresponsible is entire reason I'm leery of it.

When I had my bike, I was always a defensive rider as I knew I wouldn't win in any outcome with a car weighing 6 times what my bike ways.

I'm the same way in my car although if I'm in the Corvette and need to get some distance between me and a stupid driver....I will stretch it's legs!

Lol.....I can't magine that experience all the time. Just the 1 day it took when we moved our daughter into college her first year was enough for me!

All the 1st year students are required to live on-campus. After that they could move anywhere they wanted.

So moving her home wasn't anywhere near as bad.

Tell me about it! I teach at our local university and the bikers and pedestrians are terrible. The students will just walk down the middle of the road but hey pedestrians have the right of way.

I've only had one close call hitting a pedestrian and it was on a college campus. Rainy dark night, and a kid dressed in black clothing and a black hat decided to run out in front of me (jaywalking). Not sure how you don't notice a lifted Jeep Cherokee with loud exhaust, but I missed him by probably an inch.

a very cool girl if anything

on other news, finally was able to convince myself to not be a dick and meet julia today. plan was to ghost and move on but it's not really who i am (though still i stand by it being the norm among my peers today)

told her i wasnt looking for a relationship and if she'd be chill with just hanging out i'd be okay, kinda like the "let's stay friends" after a break up. to my surprise/dismay she said okay yeah that works but that wasn't the plan - how to proceed? i feel like this is getting stickier for no reason especially when i havent gotten involved with her because i don't have much desire to do so
