Lightbulb M5 Touring (G90/G99) Confirmed For Next Gen! Powered by S68 Hybrid Engine

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
We didn't get the F90 Touring, but we are getting the new one (G90) in a touring version as G99!

Let's hope they don't cancel it or something Can someone please go crazy with the renders?

Posted by @ynguldyn

G90/G99 M5

Will use S68 in hybrid setup (same as XM)
G90 M5 sedan SOP 07/24
G99 M5 Touring SOP 11/24

Right on the heels of G81 intro, another bit of happy news for non-US touring fans: G99 M5 Touring is real. If it doesn't die under a beancounter's knife, it'll start production in 11/24.

Awesome news! Been waiting for a M Touring for a long time.

I just emailed my dealership to secure my spot on the list (that probably doesn't even exist yet).

Crazy to think that the G99 touring could outsprint the F90 M5 CS in a straight line race given the hybrid/power setup.

If that's the case, I'll be glad that I own both!

Let's not rush to judgement. We knew we wouldn't get the M3 Touring because BMW didn't crash test the 3 Series Wagon in the US.

This is a BMW forum. It is M5 Touring. Please go sit in the corner until you understand the seriousness of your transgression.

It's not coming to North America you can pretty much bank on that. Unless BMW is going to re-introduce the 5er Touring (which is highly doubtful), there's absolutely no chance North America is getting a M5 Touring. The lack of an E63 Wagon And RS 6 sales isn't going to help either.

Just have to hear the G81 US whiners for a few more years until the G99 arrives state side. Then the next complaint will be how much it costs, as it will be pushing $110,000 base price.

Curious: why?

I have an RS6 on order but would consider trading it in for a G99 M5 which I assume will be awesome.

A full 7 year product run is worth the homologation costs for BMW for the G99. It was not worth it for the G81 with a much shorter (3 year) production run. BMW can design the next 5 series touring to meet US DOT safety requirements, as this is cheaper early in the production cycle compared to late how the G81 was a very late product decision.

Has that ever been done? Unless this is also hinting that the 5er Touring is coming back, I don't see BMW only selling the M variant of the Touring and not have a 530 or 540 Touring.

I'm going to be highly skeptical because if the only reason why you would remove Touring models in North America is in favour of more SUV sales, it makes zero sense to introduce a highly niche vehicle like the M5 in touring form which will go against the very reason why you removed the touring in the first place. And we know BMW is currently being run by bean counters.

I agree. They won't have the M5 Touring in the US unless they also bring the 530/540/550/560 Touring (used a bunch of numbers there because I have no idea which engine variant it would have).

Just need to hope that they do bring it.

A bit of a personal preference, I just love Audi wagons having owned a RS2, a URS6 and now a b5 rs4. Also I don't know what the g99 looks like and recent bmw design has been questionable at best.

You might as well just enjoy the rs for a few years and then trade it for the m5.

OOOOOH YASSS, M5 Touring! Here we go!
Wait, why's it G99? Shouldn't it be G91?

Nice collection of Audi Avants. How did you get a B5 RS4 in the states? Or did you live in Europe before CT?
