Bmw Australia Cut Price In 1 Series

BMW Australia has cut up to $3500 from the price of its 1 Series line-up, which will match the base price of its most direct new rivals in the Mercedes-Benz A-Class and Audi A3 Sportback.

All three small premium five-door hatchbacks now start from $35,600, following a $1700 price cut for the entry-level 100kW/220Nm 1.6-litre 116i petrol – down $1700 from $37,300.

At the other end of the 1 Series spectrum, the range-topping M135i 3.0-litre turbo-six hot hatch can now be had for $68,400 plus on-road costs - $3500 less than before ($68,400).

In between, the 125kW/250Nm 1.6-litre petrol 118i and 105kW/320Nm 2.0-litre diesel 118d now both cost $42,500 plus ORCs, representing $700 and $1400 price reductions respectively.

The only 1 Series to increase in price is the 160kW/310Nm 2.0-litre 125i, which is $1400 more expensive at $47,500 plus ORCs.

Apart from matching the entry price point of the A3 and A-Class, the 1 Series line-up will come with a simplified options list and extra standard equipment across the range, which BMW represents more than $5000 of added value.

Effective from July production, the revised 1 Series (due in showrooms in September), will include an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard across the range, with 125i and M135i models featuring a sport auto with launch control as standard.

In addition, the base 116i will gain upgraded ‘sensatec’ upholstery and rear parking sensors, while 118i, 118d and 125i variants add the same new seat trim and Business navigation with high-res 6.5-inch screen, iDrive controller and extended smartphone connectivity including voice control and Bluetooth audio streaming.

The 125i will also score 18-inch double-spoke alloys and Sport line trim, including sports front seats, a leather-clad sports steering wheel and exclusive High-Gloss red-accented black interior and exterior trims.

The M135i gains the most extra kit, including front/rear parking sensors and Professional navigation, including integrated touch controller function and internet functionality.

A revised 1 Series options list packages the most popular extras into packages, starting with the 116i-only Convenience Package comprising rain-sensing wipers, anti-dazzle interior mirror and extended smartphone connectivity.

The Advanced Parking Package combines automatic parking with front parking sensors and a reversing camera, while the Visibility Package combines bi-xenon headlights with headlight washers, high-beam assistance, adaptive headlights (excluding 116i) and anti-dazzle exterior mirrors.

The Premium Sound Package includes a Harman/Kardon sound system with DAB digital radio, while the Professional Multimedia Package brings together professional navigation, internet functionality, an upgraded instrument cluster, Harman/Kardon sound system and DAB radio.

Finally, the Comfort Package offers the comfort access system, electric front seats with memory, heating and powered lumbar support, while stand-alone options like metallic paint, sunroof, leather upholstery and though-loading system remain available.

“This revision has resulted in over $5000 of added value for the dynamic 1 Series hatch, in some cases much more, which means the entry point into the BMW brand has never been better value,” said BMW Group Australia Managing Director Phil Horton.

BMW 1 Series hatch pricing (plus on-road costs):

116i -- $35,600 (was $37,300)
118i -- $42,500 (was $43,200)
118d -- $42,500 (was $43,900)
125i -- $47,500 (was $46,100)
M1351 -- $64,900 (was $68,400)

Wow, that's actually a significant price drop if you can get an M135i with an Auto and Pro Nav for $64,900 + On roads!

Glad I ordered my 125i last weekend and managed to keep the old list price with all the new goodies thrown in free .

It also saved me from thinking about the M135i which is getting very close to the 125i once you spec it to the same level eg. add M-sport + Xenons + Pro Nav + Front Park = 57616 (47,500 + 5385 + 1576 + 2693 + 462) assuming the option prices have not changed.

I must say the new price of the M135i is a huge saving on the old price I calculate it as being a $11600 saving (3500 price drop + 4000 Auto + 3500 Nav + 600 Front Park).

My car has arrived and I am looking at picking up my car by the end of this week. No official finance papers signed yet. Any thoughts on how I can approach my dealer to get a better deal? From the calculations, it seems even if I give up on my $4000 deposit, I would still save loads of money ordering a July production rather than the one I've got now.

Understand how you feel. The only thing in my favour is that I have a guaranteed buy back from BMW.

With the full circle is that for a trade in only or a guaranteed price if you want to dump the car?

Guaranteed buy back at the value of the residual should you wish to simply hand back the keys. Really is a good option, sure repayments are higher as 4 year term is max, but to guarantee no negative equity at end of term is fantastic.

Worth noting you have to be at or below the agreed km - 80,000km beng max, so 20'000 a year. You can also opt for 15,000 which can bring repayments down. Also any repairs required for damage to wheels will be billed to customer.

Merc followed and now offer the same with a 5 year term.

Good Morning Tim,

Thank you for your BMW Live Chat enquiry.

My best advice would be to cancel your current order and re-order the car with the current price and options. However, please be advised that you will be subjected to the cooling off period, and will have to pay a certain cost. If you speak to the dealership and let them know that you are going to be doing this, they might be able to work something out with you to save them the hassle.

Should you have any further queries, please call us on 1800 813 299 between 8:30am and 5:30pm EST Monday to Friday, or email us at info@bmw.com.au

Kind Regards,

they are telling me to cancel my order!

thats crazy. how can they drop the price by so much and screw over all the people who have already purchased one or are about to pick one up!?
sure i understand that they have to be competitive and respond to the market (ie merc A class) but effectively dropping the RRP by 11% is ridiculous! shows how inflated the price was to begin with

I would imagine there will be some pretty good deals on the M135is that are currently in stock around the place. Surely BMW will have to offer some hefty bonuses to dealers to move this stock. Really feel for the guys who have recently purchased or are about to pickup, lets hope BMW do the right thing !

We ordered our 125 back around late April/early May and we optioned for the M Sport Pack, Bus Nav, HK, Comfort Access and elec seat and sunroof. On the strength of what I've read in this forum and in the press, I've contacted my dealer and asked for them to reconsider the pricing for our car but have not heard back yet. We're not due to collect our car until late Jul so while I'm not expecting much as that our car is built and now enroute, it's still worth asking. Not sure what else we can do if they come back with 'sorry, the deal is done' but the guy we're dealing with is pretty good so will wait and see what he comes back with. If we can't move on the price of the car, then maybe they can do something else, like free servicing for three years or something like that.

Yes it's the same price..it's a NCO now.

Ahahaha well it's a downgrade in size tim. Not to say that the e92 is very big in cabin! hahah and the m135 can sit 5 instead of 4 :P
