Sub woofer
BMW subwoofer install?
Please can anyone advise/ help me. I would like to install a small subwoofer in my 2016 F21 120i. Can anyone advise if this is possible with the standard NBT head unit? We’ve upgraded the fronts & rears to Harman Kardon already but just need a bit of bass. Or should I install the Harman Kardon subs under the front seats, again any help/ advise with that would be greatly appreciated. Is this plug and play? Many thanks Glen. |

Hey there, have you changed the amplifier to the Harman Kardon one or at all?
I have the Harmon Kardon Sound system and it is amazing quality. I have since upgraded the amplifier to the Match Up 7BMW DSP Amp which is fully customisable and also installed a sleek sub in the boot. The car sounds incredible. |

If you get an amp with high level inputs, you can tap into the underseat speaker wiring and use that to send signal to amplifier.
I'd recommend a mini amp as they are easy to hide behind trim panels in the boot. I use a Kicker Key 500.1 and it does the job well, but I'm in a country with limited brands. I have Focal underseats running off a Kicker Key 200.4 amp and they add a bit of bass but not enough to justify the upgrade cost. Far better to go the subwoofer in the boot. As a comparison, wifey's car (F10 530d) has the HK system and I find it completely underwhelming. |
