F20 steering wheel update
Is it as easy as a straight swap?
The new steerng wheel looks nice and wanted to know if it would fit a F20 m135i I plan on getting (pre wheel update verison) First picture is the old version and the second is the new that is on the new 2015 made F20 and F20. |

i was thinking of doing the same thing, but managed to get a later model last week with the updated steering wheel already fitted.
The main concerns would be button configuration. if they have the same button options im sure it would be the same plug... hopefully. I always get scared playing with airbags though. Would you be fitting it yourself? |

I don't know if it matters but there seems to be different versions of the "new" wheel. Mine has "LIM" as the most upper left button. Others from this thread has "SET" at that position.
My car has cruise control, I know that there are cars with only "LIM" and no cruise control. Seems like you get both now when having cruise control. |

By flicking the +/- switch after the cruise control is activated. Had the SET on my 320d don't remember that I used it very much, just did like I do now.
Since we have a 40 km/h speed limit in my city I find the LIM-function useful. I set LIM to 45 km/h and if I don't press the accelerator all the way down it doesn't go over 45 km/h. |

The silver long button between the two black buttons as well does resume and works great plus we have max speed button at top great for speedy get away and talking hands free as the car will not go above set speed unless you plant your foot hard.

I have a spare set of buttons SET/RESUME BNIB for the new style SW. If someone is doing this upgrade and needs correct buttons then pm me as I will sell them for a fair price. BP

If you're going to update your wheel i think you should buy the M Performance alcantara wheel with the race display and LED lights. I have it on my F20 and it was actually easy to install. So its plug&play but you need to purchase the airbag too. I'm uploading a picture of mine in case you want to see.

Diameter...
Does the new wheel have a larger diameter? I'm thinking it resolves the issue of not being able to either see the top of the speedo or the bottom line of the info panel.

Diameter is pretty much the same. The gap between the airbag and and the top of the wheel is slightly bigger than the older one but still you have to choose between the speedo or info panel.

From a shop in my country that brings original M Performance parts from BMW-Germany. It costed me around 1500 euros including the airbag, installation and also cruise control coding. F1 paddles can also be installed if you want to.
