This looks like a very accurate render.

It's a small evolution of the current 2, and doesn't look nearly as bad as the 4. The M2 of this generation would probably look pretty good.

Before: Designs too close to each other, people can't tell between generations.

After: Is that even a BMW?

All things considered, looks like BMW is focusing all their efforts into SAV's than the cars. Other than the X2 (which isn't all that bad) the X line up is pretty solid across the board. Can't say the same for the cars.

I think the front end will grow on me, I like the side profile, but the rear end proportions are even more awkward than the F22 and they are not doing it for me at all.

The license plate looks too low on the trunk and the upper deck lid looks too bulbous, causing it to look top heavy from the rear. The rear "diffuser" looks lazy compared to the new 3er.

Unfortunately, the render matches the leaked photos. Just looks worse in white.

The taillights remind me of a 2010 Honda City I saw in Asia some years ago..

Edit: added a photo

Rear flared fenders would propably look good in conjunction with front flared fenders. Either stay flared or not flared in order to avoid disproportion.

Headlights and taillights look bad. Front bumper would be fine on lower models but this is based on the M240i? Just doesn't have the aggression I'd expect there. Largely underwhelming and mostly disappointing. It really reaks of Kia and the new fwd plat

I don't hate it. It's weird looking, and I don't like it, but I don't hate it.

I think this is possibly what BMW is going for: weirdness as a factor of differentiation. I'm not sure how effectively it's gonna be as a strategy, but

Well this is a surprise...LOVE this.

Goes back to the awkward boldness of the E8X 1-series rather than the generic snooze fest of the last 2er.

And it avoids the giant grille! I dig!

The Hofmeister kink is very intentionally covered in the spy shots. Expect it to look very much like the new 4 series- unfortunately

Hofmeister kink seems intact in leaked photos from last week, that is why the render shows it that way.

The number of models in the lineup that actually look good seem to be slimming down more and more as each month passes.

All I see is G70 with worse headlights. I do hope they do something with the M2- otherwise I don't see a lot of options from BMW for me in the future. I love my 20 M2c but the new designs are turning me completely off to the brand.

I just can't warm up to that front end. The headlights and triangular edges of the bumper are terrible. Tail lights are weird too...over-styled.

Overall it is what it is and I can live with it; we have no other choice from any manufacturer for a fun little RWD visceral car. Not BMW, not Audi, not Mercedes, and not Porsche unless you're willing to shell out $75k+ for a 4 banger that leases terribly.

The M2 Comp is one of the best looking BMWs ever in my opinion. The front especially is just perfectly styled. Clean, aggressive, timeless, classically BMW.

Eh... We have developed a pretty decent gestalt for this, i.e. 4-series renders. I personally like the side profile but am not a fan of the front or back. More so the front.

Thanks! Crossing fingers it will make it into the series production.
