Dummy SALAPA

I was seaching....but nothing comes up. Does anyone know what "Dummy SALAPA" stands for? Is it just a space holder for future information?
If I check the VIN Decoder there are a few "Dummy SALAPA" options I have I want to use them but I cannot find any botton or switch for it.....
Seriously any ideas?

Possible examples are 850 - Zusätzl Tankfüllung Export (additional tank filling for export) and 925 - Versandschutzpaket (shipping protection package). The involved SA code is key. You may need to find and translate German explanations.
SALAPA is an acronym for something close to:
SA - Special Equipment - sonderausstattung
LA - Country Equipment - land ausstattung
PA - Package Equipment - paket ausstattung

Doesn't work for me... Ask to solve the Captcha, nothing happen, try again and get "You have reached a daily limit for using decoder service. Please try again tomorrow".

AFAIK BMW started to reuse the last 7 characters of the VIN, and those that are duplicate return a "VIN Not Found" or something similar.

Trying to look up WBA4W5C04LFH12778 and when I do get a return is is for a 2000 M43 318i (and not a 2020 430i).

YMMV

Do you know of a VIN decoder that will decode this VIN?

I'm trying to decode a VIN for a friend. It'd be his first BMW and it's a G20 330e (hybrid).

Most of the usual VIN decoders can't find this VIN: 3MW5P9J08M8B57837.

The dealer has the car up on its site (https://www.bmwofsouthalbany.com/new...fb7a3251a2.htm) and I wouldn't expect that VIN to be wrong on the site.

I'm wondering if it's because its Mexican production or if it's because it's a 330e. But the 330e is a series production vehicle, isn't it?

If anyone has access to a better decoder, would you be kind enough to help a newbie, decode the VIN and PM me the results?

Thanks.

As all the other decoders are dead, I tried MDecoder but it behaves strangly:
For my E28 628CSi with WBAEA3100B5571008 it says that it can't find any info
For my E61 545i WBANH31030B489526 it finds the info, but with some errors like it says it's a manual while in fact it's an automatic. All the rest is quite accurate on that car.

I wonder why it can't find my 628CSi

I've seen a lot of cars listed as manuals with the automatic as an add-on further down in the details. Agree it's odd, but it's been accurate where I've come across it.

"MANUAL"/"HECK" is indicated when the transmission does not feature a torque convertor.

Hence, within the BMW transmission ecosystem, in VIN specifications, for example an M-DCT will be indicated as "MANUAL"/"HECK" instead of "AUT".

Repost explaining this misconception:

But for BMW, the torque convertor is the criterion (present = automatic | absent = manual).

M-DCT (code 2MK/S2MK/S2MKA in VIN specs | "M twin-clutch transm. with Drivelogic" | "M Doppelkupplungsgetriebe mit Drivelogic")
= no torque convertor = manual transmission in BMW's book.

Therefore, "MANUAL"/"HECK" (instead of "AUT") is indicated in VIN specs of any F87 M2. See also for example here.

See what is said from 01:12 onwards:

Strange enough, sometimes you have to give it a couple of tries (full 17 characters).

You are correct. Further down the line it lists option S205 Automatic transmission.

Does MDecorder only goes back a certain time, as I really wonder why it doesn't know my E28...

I tried a generic Google search for your E28 VIN and it doesn't resolve to anything nor does using decodethis.com ("No Match Found for VIN WBAEA3100B5571008. Sorry, we have no match in our database for the VIN WBAEA3100B5571008"), so it's not just mdecoder.
