I don't believe that's an option - I am looking at bringing one in from the UK to NZ.

A week late, but I finally got it earlier today ....

Initial impressions: a lot smoother than the M135i, and maybe more torquey ... certainly a lot less road & wind noise - gives the overall impression of a more luxurious car ... only drawback compared to the F20 is the reach to the seatbelt harness... and something I hadnt thought of ... cant open the rear windows to ventilate the dog!

The Computer displays are quite different for this Model Year ... sussed out a few things as I drove home, but the info with 'Trip Computer' seems a lot less, no journey start time and no duration that I saw ....

Tyre pressure monitor activated itself, took quite a few miles to finish initialising ....

Brakes feel a lot more positive than the M135i ....

More when I've put some miles on and passed the exams for digesting the h/book ....

Hi guys, Monday I've ordered an Alpine White 5-door M140i to retire my old E87 120d. Unfortunately, here in Italy is available only automatic. Can't wait to sit behind the steering wheel. I hope that will be as good as my E87 was, even if the consumption will be fo sure higher compared to the 20d I have, along with the general costs, but who cares? I bought it to have fun and have a personal satisfaction in buy something i've also wondered to own, a 6 cil. BMW Hback. I think that this is the last occasion to buy a (new) rear wheel drive, inline six-turbocharged fun little car, as we all know that the new hatch will be unfortunately very, very different. I advise everyone who has the same idea to buy one.....I think that both the M135 and M140 will be a masterpiece in the future for a Young enthusiast driver.

I'm only hoping to have made the right decision...

please let us know your impressions. My dealer told me that, compared to the M135i, the "40" has a different software for the automatic gearbox (in sport mode is faster and "sportier" than before, especially in downshifts). Other things is the fuel consumpion, better than the M135...let us know if it's true, and another good thing they've done is the tipical exhaust mumble of the cold start available also in warm engine starts. So I think that the left valve of the exhaust system is Always open in every kind of engine tempertaure condition start, instead of only in the cold one as it was in the M135i.

They also told me that the engineer worked as far as the engine/exhaust sound, more like an aspirated now.... than the M135, where the "turbo" note was noticeble. Let us know if all these "quids" are true...because it's the reason why I've ordered it.

Cant seem to get 'Split Screen' working - recall it wasnt straightforward on the M135i last year - but this M140i implementation has me beat !

Initially wnen pressing the OPTION button to bring up the screen with the Split indicator, it wouldnt set the thing to 'on' .... somehow, now its always on (wont click 'off') - but I still cant move over to the rhs of the screen to populate it with what I want .... (this is all in non-NAV mode incidentally)...

On the M135i I had OBC on the rhs and used the lhs for the other things I like to see - Trip/Journey Computer / Tyre Pressures or just settings that I wanted to check ..

The whole I-Drive set of screens have really changed since June 2015 !

Anybody else have a problem or solution ?!

Cheers, ST

No, not an option in Australia but can be fitted by a dealer after delivery.

I was advised that the 1 series dash is too small to accommodate the HUD. My wifes X1 25i Msport has it, best thing since sliced bread imo.

On another note, my dealership contacted me today advising my m140i is ready for pick at the end of this week . I was in the process of organising insurance and realised that no insurer has the car in their vehicle databases. From what I have read online, the m140i is officially planned for release in Q4 so my dealership may be jumping the gun and hence why I cannot find an insurer.

Has anyone had similar experiences???

Yes, here in UK the M140i was announced mid-July - as of Weds 14Sep16, my Insurers still didnt have it listed so had to go thru to their Underwriters when I picked the car up .... the M135i Premium had been paid mid August - and when the Insurance was sorted in the Dealers Showroom, the Insurers rebated me about a £enner - "the car is regarded as a better risk than the M135" ...

WALOB! but not complaining - noticed over the w/end they now have it listed ....

After much fiddling I can confirm that Split-Screen only works in the NAV screen-set and the 'Connected Drive' set .... NOT in the 'My Vehicle' set of screens ....

Bug or design - the Handbook makes no mention of it ..... ?

My current insurer has advised that they will insure my car, they performed some research and confirmed the m140i will officially be released in Nov 2016 and hence why the vehicle database has not been updated. They have classified the m140i to be similar to the m135i and hence will provide me a tailored policy in the interim.

I cant wait to pick her up this Thursday

Given that HUD needs a different windscreen and dashboard I would think the possibility of a retrofit unlikely

It is strange that it isn't an option in the 1 series. After all, you can get it in the Mini.

BMW Head Up Screen retrofit (new accessory) (BMW part # 62 30 2 361 627) : not too new already but looks still applicable (minding "Catalog: 05/2016").

Looks a tad ugly to me...I'm not that attached to HUD to want to add that to my car.
