Early 2012 F20 Retrofit
Hi guys, First post ever on this amazing bimmer forum yet I have not found the proper answers to sleep properly rested haha
I love bmw and love my f20 but certain things disappointed me. I'm interested in finally solving if im able to retrofit the following stuff or live with what i got. S663 Bmw professional radio - to latest NBT. Standard sound - to H/K or upgrade to Alpine HIFI No auto dim mirrors - to interior and exterior auto dim mirrors and if possible folding mirrors (lock/unlock car) I've read several threads but most post confusing information and unfortunately i don't know any retrofit place in Portugal Any help is very much appreciated |

to upgrade the radio prof from your year to nbt you will need an nbt screen and a new headunit,it is possible to do this but it will be quite costly unlike upgrading from an nbt system to the pro nav....
i have checked myself to see the pricing of an nbt headunit (standard nbt radio prof) and its 800 euros brand new nbt nav headunits are even more expensive....sadly it isnt cheap to upgrade to nbt

As I said, I'm very interested in improving my F20 experience. Getting a the new LCI F20 would be far expensively. My problem is really having someone that understands about this and explaining every single detail about my project. |

I'm in the same boat myself lads. I was looking on eBay, and it seems that there's tonnes of options of nbt with screen and the idrive controller for about €450. Not 100% sure of the wiring et al, although when I spoke to my regular workshop, they said it's definitely possible. No quote on the install yet though as it was just an off the hook chat on the fly. I'll keep you guys posted if any developments happen on my end!

To be completely fair, I was under the impression that these units come from the breakers. On another note, as long as the price is not absurd, I don't really care where the unit comes from. I got a quote of around €2000 from a couple of globally renowned retrofitters, and that is parts only! A bit out of line imho considering this is almost 20% of the value of the car!

As I noted before promoting theft you make yourself a probable victim - don't you really care? I found my car with just a window smashed - no actual intrusion but still a lot of trouble to fix it ASAP and pretty expensive (at the dealer's). It made me concerned, too. As one theft victim reported it was not even the damage but the feeling they crapped your car that hurt the most. Consider that. If you can store your car safely you should just buy it properly equipped. Those expensive toys are not for street (or even private yard?) parking and it's stolen stuff buyers that make it that way: no demand would make no offer. |
