F21 NBT Evo ID6 Software version & VIN issue - help!
No idea if I am being a clown (anyone is welcome to tell me!) but I picked up from 2017 1 Series from used car dealer today in London.
The VIN checked out based on visual inspection, logbook and via Auto-trader / Experian checker + one other. I've come to check if the software is up to date, but the BMW website tells me my VIN is not recognised. I called BMW support and they referred me to my local dealer, agreeing they could not match the VIN. I guess two questions, from folks that know more than me: 1. I can't think of a reason why BMW might be struggling with the VIN - any ideas? 2. Is my EVO ID6 software up to date? Mine says: TT-001.041.002 MT-001.041.002 . . . if I'm not up to date, is my only recourse to get a dealer to update me, or can I download it from somewhere other than the BMW update website? Thanks everyone! Last edited by matt101101; 03-03-2021 at 03:31 PM.. Reason: Added in location! |

I don't know why the website is being a shite.
But to check the software version, go to the maps section and then go to settings - software version and post that up please. it'll say something like NBTevo_xxxxxxx |

Thanks!
I've taken pics of what I can find. Am I being a clown, but I had assumed that the MT and TT numbers indicated the software on some part of the car and wondered if these were the right versions and ought be updated to increase functionality? Thanks for your help! |

Hi guys - I thought I would bump in case anyone was able to confirm the software version I should have!
Less concerned about the VIN, but would be good to know - seeing as the BMW website cannot help! Thanks |

In case you really don't know, your car is a F20 (5 doors).
Regarding the BMW website, if it tells you your VIN "could not be found" it's strange. If it just reports an error it can mean your car is not "eligible" for this way of software update (or the service is not available ). Your picture mentions "automatic map update" - this might mean you should use "over-the-air (OTA) software updates" or a BMW application on your phone. If nothing works and you still mind your car's software, address an official dealer/service, indeed. They might tell you something interesting, like you don't have a NBT Evo ID6. |
