BMW 1 series 118i F20 2019

I’m Wondering if anyone has experienced cold start issues on there BMW this issue only started last week once the really cold weather kicked in, only 28,000 on the clock full service history car from BMW themsleves had a major service at 24,000, it’ll start first time but if I don’t give it a little gas the car will cut out….but once I start it up again it’s absolutely fine for the rest of the day….I’m using shell V power as my main fuel I have heard some threads out there suggesting that may indeed be the problem and to try perhaps a standard fuel? no dash warning or idrive errors at all, I’d appreciate some feedback, cheers!

Well, let's try again if you insist. The issue with your Shell V Power can be it's quality: it may be the lower grade factory petrol with some "doubtful" additives. Especially if you buy that fuel at some "third party" gas station, a bit cheaper or something. I don't know about fuel quality control in your country, just "shit happens" they say. If your spark plugs were bad at 24,000 miles that's quite early: the manual says they are supposed to last two oil changes (my factory oil change interval setting was 30,000 km and I had to change the plugs at about 45,000 km because of rough idling). With that said, checking the plugs should do no harm: they are easy to kill with bad fuel they say. Also, the car warns you only on major issues. There can be "minor" but indicative faults logged.

The plugs weren’t bad at 24,000 it had a major service done which consists of changing the spark plugs along with other things with that kind of service provided, the plugs wouldn’t be changed with a routine service, I’m just asking for people’s opinions as I’ve seen a few people say they’ve had issues with 98 Ron fuel in comparison to the standard fuel….
