my car is auto braking

Since I took my car 1 year ago to the mechanic and brakes were replaced, I am experiencing the following:

- car is auto braking. I mean the car brakes alone, by himself, with no brake pedal being pressed. This braking occurs for a short time (maybe 1 second?)

- 99% of the times the auto braking occurs in the exact moment I press the clutch pedal. Its like if the clutch pedal have turned into a brake pedal. this only takes place when moving gear to the 5 or 6th position, generally above a certain velocity (+/-80 km/h)

My mechanic pointed to ABS pump. And after some googling I see some problems of auto braking related to thie ABS pump, and the dry braking function. But all symptoms occur in rain, with the windshield working, and no clutch pedal being pressed.

Its not my case, the auto braking is occuring in dry weather and when clutch pedal is pressed.

Anybody have some idea what could be the problem?

Are you sure it's the brakes involved rather than some engine braking due to clutch mechanism malfunction? If you press the clutch pedal while coasting does the braking take place? Also, you might want to rule out the DSC by having it completely disabled with the driving mode button (mind safe driving conditions, of course ).

"Are you sure it's the brakes involved rather than some engine braking due to clutch mechanism malfunction"
During 1 year 100% of all auto brakings occurred while I pressed the clutch pedal, and I was convinced this should some clutch problem yes. But in last couple of months I had 3 occurrences where clutch pedal was not being pressed. Then I also remebered also that this all started after a regular maintenance where brakes front/rear where replaced.
This is why I am currently convinced this may not be a clutch problem.

"If you press the clutch pedal while coasting does the braking take place?"
I am not sure. I tyied some times and everything normal.
But the auto brake occurrance is rare to happen, and its hard to make it happen and test it under different conditions/behaviors. (I must drive 30/40 km in the highway to see it happen 1 time or so)

"you might want to rule out the DSC"
I will check it out

thanks mate

what you discribe is normal behavoir.. its called brake drying ( Trockenbremsfunktion).. it occurs only when wet ( Wipers in Auto and "actively" wiping due tot rain detected). you can code to lighter and "harder" breaking.. but you canīt decode this feature

Hi, this is not normal behavior, its very dangerous indeed, you can be sure,
And its allways happening in dry weather.
Why you say we cannor code it out? I have known that many peoply already did it.

Hi DomMuc, attached a photo from the "dry brake" function options from active to not active. Why did you say we cannot disable it? Am I missing something? This is the first time I am doing such a programming, is this safe to try?
