Hi all,

I recently just purchased a car and I probably should’ve checked that the car actually had Bluetooth but I picked it up yesterday from the dealer and to my surprise there’s no Bluetooth or option for the telephone.

There’s buttons on the IDRIVE console and on the wheel for Bluetooth but it doesn’t do anything when clicked. After a bunch of research I decided it’s probably better if I check if I even have a combox and yeah to my surprise there’s no combox.

So I just have a solution but I’m not sure if it’s worth while. I have a friend that’s able to install the CarPlay screen systems. Do those need the combox to be functional or does it come with it’s own built in Bluetooth?

Having CarPlay installed was always going to be something I would’ve done but I want to make sure since I don’t have a combox no issue will arise.

I guess for not I will have to use an FM transmitter because the cost of getting a combox installed is a bit much.

I should mention also that this is a Japanese imported car and now resides in Ireland.
