2011 116d not starting

my sons car suddenly lost power when driving, recovered by the AA and was told it was showing low fuel pressure, when turning on the fuel pump does not prime, I have connected a live feed to the pump and it primes.

I have checked fuses that I can see which have all been good, there is no power at the relay under the rear seat, hoping for ideas where to look next please

In one of the fuse boxes you should have a somewhat enigmatic fuse card listing the fuses. Look for fuses showing alongside the fuel pump symbol.

Have you checked for any diagnostic codes?

Is it a 1st gen or 2nd gen vehicle?

I have no idea 1st or 2nd gen, its my sons car and I do not have a code reader, the AA man said it was reading low fuel pressure but did not share the code with me, presumably it will not have any pressure with the LPFP not working ?

I had another look at the car this morning, I put a 12v feed to the pump which runs, when spinning the engine on the starter it fired several times and then comes to a sudden stop similar to a petrol engine thats too far advanced,

Is it possible for the timing to have slipped ?

The 1st gen chassis codes are E81, E82, E87 and E88 and the 2nd gen chassis codes are F20 and F21.

I don't know if a timing chain problem would affect the power to the fuel pump relay. If it does then that almost certainly would give an error code. There are free apps for Android phones that will read the codes if you get an OBD-II adapter.

code showing is 4b90, low pressure at rail, when continually trying to start the car it seems like it gets to hydro lock, could this be injectors stuck open with metal filings from HPFP ?

I have bought a LPFP and connected it outside of the fuel tank, ignition on and it does not prime, when I move the fuel level float the gauge responds so power is getting to that, I am trying new relays next and then its probably going to be scrapped
