BMW F21 114d failing EGR?
Hi Guys,
let me introduce myself swiftly - I grew up with Merc's and owning them all my life around me, as a car enthousiast I share the passion like every other enthousiast in the world and like to do my own mechanics as far my knowledge let's me. So feel free if you ever require assistance with Merc's to contact me as I'll need the help of all the BMW gourou's here to learn the BMW stuff My girl was always in love with BMW 1-serie's, so we bought a young 2nd hand one for her from the BMW dealer like 2 years ago. The car has now 90000 km on the clock, she was very happy with the car which handles great and has a great fuel economy in town. Recently the engine light went up shortly when the car required a small maintanence (oil & oil filter) - I opened the hood and was quitly shokked with what I saw... There was alot of sticky soot on the 'mixing' tube (Part number 3) which leads from the intake maniford to the EGR. After close inspection I noticed there was litterarly a hole in it and you could see that the part was moved also as I was able to see the gasket. What the f**** happend here? Is this possible? something burned it? Anyways I orderd the part, wasn't that expensive at the dealer (50€), and tomorrow I'll replace it in the hope the engine light will go out also... But it bothers me as I'm afraid there is something fishy going on with the car. |
