ride comfort on E90
This will be my first BMW, first new car, and first car in 10 years. I ordered the 325i with 17" style 158 wheels without sport suspension. How is the ride quality? Not handling and cornering, etc. but ride COMFORT. I live in Jamaica and some of the roads are simply abominable. Can this car (with runflats) give you a genuinely comfortable non-bone jarring ride through some of the pot-holes and cobblestones through which I will be wading? With all the bad press about the 5 series and runflats, I am afraid of paying so much for a car that won't ride well.

According to all the posts and literature, the 3 series suspension was designed specifically for the run-flats. Haven't seen complaints about ride quality yet, particularly with the non-SP.

I was really surprised at the comfort of my 325. I guess the sport suspension could make the ride a little stiffer, but believe me, I have nothing but good things to say about the ride quality. This is my first bimmer as well. Good luck!
PS. I rode in a Bimmer about a year ago...I don't know what kind it was (I wasn't paying attention at the time) but it was definitely older, and it was a coupe. I think it may have been the one before the E46. Anyway, that didn't ride that well. I actually thought for a BMW it should ride better, but there is no comparison of that to the E90. You go over the bumps, and you can't even hear them, let alone feel them. If there's one thing you don't need to worry about, it definitely the comfort! With the sports package, the ride quality is definitely not as comfortable as that. It's decent for sports suspension, but I do work hard to avoid the bad Boston potholes which Boston is notorious for as well.

It's a BMW with 17" non-sport suspension. Your ride will be fine (comfortable). Even members with the sports suspension and 18" say the car absorbs bumps very well.

When I drove the 330i with no sports package the ride comfort was incredible. I took it over some railroad tracks and Berkeley streets are plenty potholed. I was delighted.
I was also sort of surprised by how much stiffer the ride was with the sports suspension. I guess this is to be expected. I just had not compared the two before. With a 325i without sports suspension I think you will be fine with ride comfort, really.
