Bmw screen coding problem. Cic

Hey. I have upgradred my orignal 6.5 inch screen to 8.8 inch, with CarPlay. When im in the original menu, it still thinks is a 6.5 screen, so i get Blackbar / halfscreen. How do i code it away?

Easiest is with the BimmerCode app and a compatible interface (see their website for a list of these).

Have you checked that the 8.8" screen was an option?

Enter the last 7 digits of your vin into realoem.com/bmw

and then find the head unit and display types.

If there is no 8.8" option it might not be possible.

For Bimmercode you have to select Expert mode - there maybe an upgrade cost and then see this post:

https://www.bimmerfest.com/threads/s...#post-13709837

Look for the 3000 HMI HU lines and if it is possible these will be present:

DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION 8.8"
DISPLAY_VARIANTE Brietes (widescreen)

If they are not, it won't be possible.

This thread for an i3 is helpful.

I tried to upgrade my 2014 116i with BMW Professional Radio but couldn't do it - there was no option so I bought a 10.25" Android unit from Aliexpress.

This works okay for the cost (£188) but the 4G doesn't work in Europe (no LTE support) so I have to use my phone as a hot spot. It keeps the original 6.6" Idrive display and you can switch between this and the Android screen by touching it or pressing the home button.

I don't think it will be possible, like with my 116i. (which had a Champ 2 head unit which is similar to a CIC.)

Realoem doesn't show the 8.8" as an option for your car.

I've concluded that you need to have a NBT head unit unless you have S606/609 in the decoded vin list. Mine had 663 so not possible and bimmercode did not show those two options either.
