That article is 10 years old.
No idea but the base design and functionality seems to fit. If it is in the hommage it’s likely an updated version.

Xtrac is mainly a racing transmission company and I unsuccessfully tried to find pricing but I suspect this tranny cost as much as an M3 so I doubt we'll see them in any volume M cars.
Perhaps,

It Probably cost that much when they debut the tech, now moving from pure race applications to a demonstrator ultra low production car. In another 4 years could we see a commercialized version of the tech? It seems like the right answer to questions of maintaining a high performance direct connection and having hybrid capability. Obviously we don't know where it sits on the reliability and scalability part of its development curve.

Agreed, if a high volume producer as ZF is willing to develop and mass produce this technology it’s the way to go for M. Not only the hybridization but the transaxle with it’s weight distribution advantages. The weight from the transmission and electrification right on top of the drive axles is yummy.

I was thinking too about the comments from SCOTT26 earlier in the thread where he called out we will see elements of this car incorporated in the not too distant future

I'm seeing recurrent mention of "newly developed [first] M hybrid drive system" but no technical details.

I’m guessing it’s one of the versions in this article.

Emperor's new clothes.

600k for a manual M4 with body kit - seriously?

However I'm glad BMW can make and sell this type of car given current climate.

I not sure why the limit is 50 - other than bmw birthdays and there is not many that would put 600k down on BMW!

Possibly but they are all gone and will weigh 3600lbs v 2300lbs for the orginal - though the lucky few are unlikely to throw around a rare 600k car on track.
