I drove my GT3 for 14 months and sold it for $1k less than I paid for it. You'll probably lose $20-25k/year on the GTR.

yeah the gtr will depreciate more. how much more im not sure but i doubt it will be a ton. GT3s are very stable in price though. the only people who get killed on those are the people that paid the insane markups.

i went gt3 (2018 manual). engine behind you is just better than in front. plus it makes your view out front much better, so its easier to place the car. The GTR sounds good and has much more power thanks to turbos. the GT3 keeps it NA with a high redline. nearly everything is turbo these days so i dont find forced induction very appealing.

i'm thinking of replacing my f80 with a base amg gt... i would never replace my gt3 with an amg gtr

Got the GT3 for my wife...within 6 weeks it needed a new engine. Had a choice of either replacing the engine and getting allocated a 911R as a consolation prize or buying the car back, so we had a Cayenne in the driveway for 2 months. Other than that, there were few minor odds and ends but nothing significant. The GTR on the other hand was only at the dealer the first and last days I had it.

On the street, the GTR is hands down more fun to drive. It's significantly faster, more comfortable, better appointed, and just about the easiest car to powerslide that I've ever driven. There's so much more theater with the GTR driving at 5/10 as opposed to the GT3 which is way more clinical. Sure the GT3 sounds better, but only after 5K RPM. Below that where you spend the majority of the time driving on the street, it sounds like any other Porsche.

On the track, the GTR is also faster but not as rewarding. The GT3 is as good as any Chris Harris video will make you believe but it lacks pace. At Laguna, granted which favors power, I was 3 seconds faster in the GTR than 991.1 GT3 with both on PSC2s. But yes, the GT3 feels more at home on a track without question.

Thanks, that's definitely what I was thinking. If I had a GT3, I would definitely want to track it as that's where it really shines. Haven't had the pleasure of driving a GT-R but I've driven a GT-S years ago and it was so much fun, and a unique experience due to the front-mid engine layout. If I had a GT-R I'd definitely have to spec it in Green Hell Magno.

Garage List
The GT3 would be my pick. That screaming flat 6 along with the razor sharp handling is just the best combination. But it also depends on your priorities.

If you're not tracking the car, I'd get a 2018 GT3 Touring with a manual transmission.
Add a Numeric shifter/cables and exhaust and you're done.

Absolute driving nirvana!
