I love Porsches also but some cars are special and many times that is circumstantial. A V10 R8 is a forever car as it will be missed and will leave an unfillable void. 911's are a dime a dozen even though they are awesome cars.

911s and R8s each have pros and cons. if you're just comparing convertible cruisers the R8 wins here. you have a v10 right behind your back and imo the R8 vert looks wayyyy better than a drop top 911. the icing on the cake is that OP was able to get it at msrp. most guys on rennlist are paying 15k over still for carreras.

It was a lucky break for me, I had to drive 4 hours to get it but it was worth it!

The ADMs on some high end sports cars, exotics, supercars, etc are ridiculous right now. Just a month before buying my R8, my local Porsche dealer had a brand new 911 Turbo S in stock and were selling it with a $100k ADM.

Total rip off, guys, don't be suckers and pay these prices

Corvette is worse, but there are a lot of 911 owners who fall into the same camp. Just pitiful--I have no use for people who buy these cars and drive them slowly everywhere. Those people should be stripped of their cars.
