Due to heavy work schedule I did not have the time yet to install it. If everything goes as planned, I will install it this afternoon...otherwise on Friday. I will keep you posted!

I will try...at least to get some, since probably I will not be present in the process of installation.
I will not pay anything, I am just installing the box for a week or so to run some comparison tests and in general have an idea of the performance increase. It is the 1st box to be installed (as far as i know) apart from the Hartge demo cars and we want to test it. The Hartge dealer in Greece is a friend of mine, so I am letting my car to be a guinea pig!! I know the RRP in Germany (and most European countries) is 1.530 Euro + VAT.

I installed the box on Friday and over the weekend I had the chance to do around 200 miles. The increase in power is noticable, but only on full throttle and high speeds. From standstil to 120 km/h, the power increase is not very noticable. However, when I accelerated from 60 km/h to 200 km/h, the increased power is noticable after 120 km/h (approximately) when you feel the car pulling faster and more eagerly.
It reminded me a lot of how the 118i drives...the power difference is more noticable on higher speeds. I did not notice any increase on consumption. I did not run any comparison tests, since I could not get hold of a normal 116i with auto box. As a summary I would say (just a feel, I do not have any numbers to back it up) that it was like driving a 118i. The installation is very easy. There is a harness from the control box (with one plug to the box) to 5 different sensors (turbo pressure, camshaft position etc.) plus a cable to power supply and a cable for grounding. All in all it takes about 45' for a proper intallation. Tonight I will post a few pics.

Here are some pics, as promised.
------- ------- ------- Here you can see the wires for power and grounding: ------- ------- Here you can see the box, placed (with adhesive tape) on top of the fuse box, so once installed and the cover is back, nothing is visible:

Hi Fanis, How many sensors to connect and what are they? I noticed different piggyback connect to different number of sensors, for Swiss, it is 2, TMC is 3 and Hartge is 5?
I wonder what would be the difference? they all have similar claimed max output |

I am not sure if it is the same, as it seems to have only 2 connectors for the sensors. Also, if I ever consider doing a tuning, I would go only with a reputable and well-known BMW tuner, like AC Schnitzer, Hartge, Kelleners, Hamman. I would not trust anyone else.

I do not mind, but I do NOT have the manual, as I have not bought the Tuning Box (just installed it for a week to test it). However, it does not say antyhting more, just photos of the connections and what each connection is (for example it says: ''Turbo Pressure 1'')

I've searched the net for differences between 116i and 118i, engine wise, and haven't found any other than the exhaust silencer.
There is a chip tuning 118i to 204-210 HP. Theoretically we can get the same result for 116i right? Anyone tested it? Thanks. |
