People have been referring to Porsches as P-Cars/PCars/P Cars (what have you) since at least the early 2000s (over 15 years ago), well before Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and hashtags were a thing in the public.

I would say it was initially popularized on car forums (particularly BMW discussion boards during the E46 days) and then subsequently picked up as an easy and catchy hashtag by social media.

I still cringe at the "6MT" a bit but I couldn't fit the word "manual", and just thought it might avoid ambiguity.

Relax man, it's just an opinion haha. Everyone can have one.
I am very relaxed. You missed the point of my post. There is nothing wrong with "'17 M3 Mineral White 6MT" - it is NOT pretentious any more than "///M" is. They are just ways people talk about their cars.

Because of a bodypart that starts with the same letter that the drivers often mistake their car as a substitute for.

That's how you pronounce it in Belgium/Holland, which is where I grew up. So I still say it like that. And you're right, makes people cringe all the time.

On Rennlist it was the Off Topic crowd that used p-car consistently.
On the technical Forums we used the model # with subtype for clarity.
Few used p-car there. Mostly non hard core guys.
Others/we used Porsche when the name was needed.

It's cringe. I'd imagine it came from people not knowing if it's pronounced Por-shh or Por-shuh. The latter is correct.

In the Netherlands the last 'e' in 'Porsche' isn't silent.
It's pronounced 'porsjuh' in Dutch. So similar as in German, only probably a bit more emphasis on the rolling 'r' but thats typical for Dutch vs. German.
