Ever noticed how as soon as a post about the 1 series hatch back is featured on the main page, it attracts all the haters in? What i find especially amusing is that most of them seem to be from the USA where they have never seen a 1 series hatch in real life and where this car won't ever even be released.
Wha Wha headlights, wha wha M badge, wha wha polo copied last 1 series which somehow makes new 1 series a copy of the polo wha wha it wasnt like this in my day etc etc.........

Looks terrible.
And why there is E82 135i's front bumper attached to the front of this car? Was it really hard to design a new one? Did they run out of ideas? BMW has become quite cheap. |

Not a fan of the car by any measure. The front bumper looks like the current 135i, the headlights are horrible and way to large. The rest of the car looks cheap and the back is way to understated and looks crappy. The only thing I like are the brakes, but I hate the blue color, no matter what color the car is. Don't even like them on the new M5.

Unbelievably ugly.
However, now you know why they won't be making a true 1M successor. The performance delta between the two cars is going to be very very small.

Either way, I love the idea of a fun smaller 3 or 5-door hatch, and I don't like how we will not see this in the US. I wish they would bring fun smaller usable cars here in the US. Instead we just get the 2 door version. I will say that the side profile looks pretty good, but it is still ugly head-on.

Same argument again, they can't have an M1 hatch for the same reason they couldn't have M1 coupe. This will be the halo hatch. |

stefan, there is no need to claim that this thing will be more performant than an actual E82 135i coupe, not yet without any data available. Plus, we don't know what will the 1M's real successor be like yet, it will be difficult for BMW to frustrate the potential buyers on that one especially after the surprising (for some) success and limited availability of the actual 1M.
So, the only things we know for sure is this M135i three door hatch study just doesn't look genuinly focused or right (choose your word to fit) and it definitely is not the successor of 1M, in no dimension I could think of. The future M2 has to be damn good and different than this "concept" and has to salivate owners and fans of the E82 1M. For now, we are just thanking God every single day that we have grabbed one of the available 1Ms right on time and not waited for this next generation. |

I don't know why they even bother to put a M badge on this. It's ugly and nothing really special about it. It's stupid!

Can't you jump in front of it instead? Preferably while it is moving at speed!
I honestly couldn’t care less if you like it or not. I’m delighted with my purchase and I love the look of the car. The reality is that any new product, service, artist or whatever will get attacked by ignoramuses who do not understand or like it. That’s fine; you’re more than entitled to your opinion. It just annoys me that people who have never seen one in real life, and don’t even have the opportunity to buy one, think they are contributing to the F20 community by coming on and bleating on about how it looks. Find a new hobby horse. /Rant

IF that is true, you do realize that the E30 M3 had a 4 cylinder, while the E30 325i had a 6 cylinder. This wouldn't be the first time the more focused drivers car had less cylinders. Some of the 3 series reviews are saying the 4 cylinder is more fun to drive than the 6 cylinder because of the lower weight on the front. Haven't driven either, so I'll reserve final judgement.
