Hi All,

Just a quick hello and update from me on my car deliver; after ordering it at the beginning of May, I have just been to the dealer to sign the pre-registration documents. The car is with the dealer (but at their preparation center - so no sneaky looks) and I collect it next Monday - woohoo.

Pretty excited here - and looking forward to having an alternative to my LR Discovery 3 which gets 22 mpg...

Just need to go and buy Child Seats and Gap Insurance...does anyone have any suggestions on either of those or other things I might benefit from?

We have played it safe with the colour; Glacial Silver with Black Leather interior. Also popped on Pro Nav, Driver Comfort, Sun Protection, Dimming Mirror, Heated Seats, Brushed Aluminium Trim with Gloss Black Finishers, Rain Sensor, DAB.

Having never owned a zimmer before we are rather looking forward to the experience; after spending some time at the dealers thinking of chopping the rather aged (2005) Disco 3 for an X5 - but having used the Disco for a ski season without it putting a foot wrong (even when the locals were found in ditches after a major dump of snow) not sure of its off-road credentials - anyone got any experience of what they are like when the going gets tough?

I visited the dealer earlier in the week to sign the pre-registration documents and was told the car was being prepared - unfortunately I wasn't allowed to see it as it was at their depot, not the dealer

Interestingly, once I had the VIN as per the document I signed I have been able to register on www.bmw-connecteddrive.co.uk and have now gone through all the app registration; I can even login using the app on my iPhone and check the cars location - but it doesn't seem to respond so I guess the car itself hasn't been made 'live'.

I am surprised at the above as aside from putting down a deposit the car isn't actually mine yet!!

I will post up some piccies once I have got the car and wrestled the keys out of the other halfs fingers...

my car is at status 8200 so won't be long either. Order was placed 21/05/12.

I dont think it will locate the car if it is more than two miles away from you.... due to BMW's Privacy Policy?

I finally got around to taking some snaps - I'm sorry but I am not much of a photographer at the best of times, and with the crappy weather, dirty car and iPhone 4s camera they aren't anything special - but they may interest some people...
